Also one last question before I stop spamming but does this exist as more of a POC or are we going to see a “midnight” theme like in the photo? Or is this just a poor capture of an LCD at RDC?

After a few “Play Here” plays the original button is greyed out and disabled for some reason (You can still use the dropdown)

This only seems to have started happening after i did play here but hasnt happened with normal play

This is whats currently in studio. Obviously this is not final and there will most likely be more changes in the future
I am also not sure if there are any other fastflags to toggle these on other UI objects these are the only ones i have found so far

I just now noticed this one. That actually looks nicer to look at. Is there a flag for that you can share or is it just a dev build

This tooltip bug was fixed recently and going through verification/testing now. It should be out within the next week or two.

That screenshot looks super saturated to me but generally speaking yes the final dark theme colors will be darker/blacker from what I’ve seen.

We are currently working on a totally new Play Test controls implementation which will also support setting local server and number of players. Hopefully out this month some time. What’s there now is what we could get together quickly enough for a “preview” — but I’m glad you’re using it!

It’s not in prod yet. This was us just trying to figure out what a mess color usage has been over the years. People hardcoding hex values, using random color tokens, etc.

So while the screenshot looks mostly ok, if you used that version of Studio for more than 2 minutes, you would quickly uncover more UI that is not properly using color. This is why it’s not so simple to update Studio color palettes. :melting_face:

could someone point me to where asset manager, game explorer and device screen tester are?
or are they just gone now :skull:

Luckily, all three of those panels are still available in the beta.

Asset Manager is kind of hidden now, but it’s in the Window menu, along with Explorer (which is also a button in the first ribbon tab, on the right side).

Device Testing’s menu item can be found in the View menu.


If you’re looking for any other built-in or plugin panel, you can make them visible using this large, leftover menu from the current Roblox Studio UI. For whatever reason, if you dock the Command Bar at the top of Studio like this, you can right-click a very specific row of pixels above it (just under the ribbon) to open this big menu.

as for Explorer, will it include the new iconography seen in the Ribbon? will it use Builder Sans instead of Source Sans Pro?

will Insert Basic Objects will be overhauled that includes actual proper categorization?

I’m not sure how much our design team is still planning on changing icons but yes the eventual goal is everything is consistent with “final” styling. Nothing in Next Gen Preview or new Start Page is final (or consistent!)

Explorer and Properties are getting a ground up overhaul to our new frameworks so they will be using all the same styling references and assets. It’s a different team so I can’t speak to the plans for the “Insert Object…” UI offhand

Builder Sans is still quite a ways off from being ready for Studio, as far as I know. Aside from the font itself still being refined, we have some engine issues to work through.

Will the explorer overhaul come at the end of this year or Q1 2025?

I don’t want to speak for another team too freely but I believe they are working hard to get the first pass out before EOY. Likely to be in a separate Beta Feature from the Next Gen Preview.
