Next Gen Studio UI Preview is here! [Beta]

Yes colors and icons will keep getting updates. Our design system team is working hard to spec out a global design system that works across all the various interfaces (player, www, and Studio). So we are just trying to get as much UI moved over to the new style system as we can. Then when design specs come through (or get updated in the future), we can apply those fairly quickly and easily. It’s hard for me to explain how difficult it was to style Qt UI in this way!

A thing that I have noticed is that the new Explorer (Which is Luau as well), has received the update of custom icons. Sorry for being impatient, but I really like customization.

I’ve been absolutely loving the Stylesheets system which is powering the new studio interface.

I got inspired and decided to try my hand at making my own explorer ui using StyleSheets.

Neat! Yeah we’re really just getting started with styled Lua UI.

question, will the design/layout change a lot? I’m not concerned about colors since those update dynamically with my plugins. other than the colors and maybe some roundness differences, will there be lots of component updates necessary on my part around the time of the full release?

Working on a new plugin using new colors ik not sure if it’s matching the new design system but it’s using react and get Thier colors from a table so updating colors will be easy

This my first time using react and I will make the next gen ui of my plugin auto properties also in react but rn I don’t know how to add multiple uis with react since render seems to overwrite I want to use a for loop what checks a table to setup the ui so it will be easier to make the plugin since I only have to edit a table and it dynamically makes all uis

Since a few days with the Next Gen UI, I discovered that on macOS (Apple Silicon), when I’m in full screen and I want to get to the menu bar, the animation stutters. Please fix it :pray:t2:

Liking the new testing controls, will we be able to add our own category?
Btw, when’s the custom tab config menu coming? :eyes:

Thank you for this updated play test configuration! But I found little bug with drop-down list. It opens again, when I try to close it.

I think you guys should merge the “Add Item” and the “Manage Tabs” menus, Or a button in “Manage Tabs” menu that opens the “Add Item” menu would be great.

Are you sneaky flipping flags!?

We have a couple more fixes pending before we go live. This is kind of an interim UI. Our goal is to have true drag and drop style editing. But Manage Tabs will probably stick around so thanks for the suggestion.

It seems like there’s a problem with the setting button:

It shows weird characters…

That’s a known issue and not a part of the Next Gen Beta feature. But thanks for reporting!

:flushed:

The UI is pretty great and functional, however I hope you guys can make the ribbon automatically expand instead of putting the buttons in here:

This UI is the most infruiating update I’ve seen, it’s great, nothing about the actual quality.
It’s the ease of use, the tooltips are the most horrendous thing, they sometimes stay on screen and they are basically always on top.

Alongside that, I somehow started server testing without being able to stop since the play button was highlighted by the stop button wasn’t, I don’t know what I even pressed.

Woke up to this :flushed:

I have issues when I have a big game and I have team create enabled, my studio crashes after a few minutes, this doesn’t happen with the old studio.

Oh, thats weird in a normal studio it shows great.

Hey, I wanted to give this new interface a try, after months, thinking this mightve been fixed, however this is still looking very hard to navigate…

Having said this tool is made for desktop devices, I think we should keep it more practical, meaning icons should have less space between them. there’s an insane amount of space wasted between these icons.

I have a lot of plugins installed, and this would basically remove half of my plugins or make them not show up.

Not to mention the tabs on top, like “home, model, avatar, etc” that take up so much space for no reason.

here is a mockup I made for how this UI could be improved.
