If the username contains a combination of letters from “NG”, we get this error:
“Username not appropriate for Roblox.”
Unfortunately, there is no access to X from the Russian Federation. Can you show a screenshot?
That’s so stupid…
Wanna be a gaming account? NO!
Wanna be a racing account? NO!
Wanna be a drawing account? NO!
The list goes on. It’s very stupid!
Um… Is it the Roblox AI that’s so bad at understanding grammar and word formation? Or did someone just crookedly set up the login check for correct word formation?
If the binding was to the ending - no questions.
If the binding was to the suffix - no questions.
But here it’s from the beginning of the word, not even its root, but just a combination of letters…
This is simply amazing censorship…
Is it really that difficult to remove unreadable characters (numbers) from a login and check the remainder for a meaningful word?
Even the word “Angel” can no longer be used.
The next step will be to ban letters individually?
We even have a joke about how our regulatory agency bans letters one by one:
it might be because of the short slang for n word Urban Dictionary: Nga
this might be a filtering oversight
I guess the word “Gaming” is now censored
Sure i guess it could be because of a slur but this shouldn’t block any kind of word
Edit: I just realized that so many common words are now censored
I doubt that in the words “Gaming”, “Angel” this combination of letters is used in this context.
And, frankly speaking, the chat filter in the game works in a similar way - completely harmless words are banned and replaced with ###, which is very, very annoying.
guys i think this might be like the time they banned the capital letter F in display names (not trolling this is real) because you can spell the f word with it
edit:
I’m glad that in the game chat this “running king” is not banned yet…
Lol.
I feel as if there’d be much more false positives than actual attempts at registering violative usernames as so many English terms contain the letter combo are or appear to be benign…
Why is Roblox becoming worse and worse
Guess I’m lucky considering my display name.
This is obviously an unintentional bug with the filter and complaining doesn’t contribute to the report. Please only respond if you have something significant to add
Changed it to that instead.
It’s mental how they did that.
Just checked again and i no longer get the error when trying to use words like “Gaming”
(Suppose to say “Username not appropriate for roblox”
That was quick fixing
I wouldn’t say the issue is resolved.
The sign up page uses a completely seperate filter from the rest of Roblox (see: “arse” never being censored in the username field for several years now) - I’d imagine the change username field is using the regular roblox website filter, and not the signup page filter.
