Hello! I need some feedback for my new horror game, Its based on I’m on Observation duty.
It’s been a little over a week since I started working on it and I think it’s time for it to be released for testing.
Here are some good feedback questions:
1: How does the games UI look? Is it bad? Passible?
2: How is the gameplay? Is it unfair? Is it fun?
3: How is the level design? Ugly? Messy?
4: Did you have fun?
Notes:
Each round takes 11 minutes (I believe this is how long observation duty is)
I plan on adding an entity type
I also plan on adding difficulties, The current one will be set as normal
I played your game and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Here are my thoughts:
I absolutely loved the gameplay. The ambiance is a great touch and it made the game genuinely terrifying. The camera transition is also pretty neat with the static effect and sound. Each of the rooms look complete with fitting props. The lighting isn’t the best, but I think pretty good. The UI during the game is passable, but less is more in this case. I think you should keep the UI as is. My only problem is there is no guide for new players. Luckily, I watched Markiplier video on I’m On Observation Duty so I know the general gist of the game. I was able to successfully report a discrepancy, so that’s at least functional.
I think the title screen needs some work. The static effect is a cool idea but its not enough. I also think that the title and play button should not be the same size. I think the title text should be bigger and maybe have more emphasis. Here are some other things that I think you should add:
Some kind of animated prop. Maybe a window with rain outside, a ceiling fan, a flickering laptop, a swinging lightbulb, or maybe even a clock.
Some sort of ambiance. Maybe like a slight static to match the static effect, unnerving music, or something fitting with one of the props mentioned above.
(Just an idea I think you can do) Maybe the camera can cut out for like 0.3 of a second and it could just be static. When the camera comes back, there could be a very noticeable discrepancy. Maybe there’s a blurry dark figure or something could be missing. The camera could cut out again after a few seconds and the discrepancy would be gone.
Unfortunately, I was not able to play the game for very long because I got too scared . I’m not very good with horror games. From what I did play though, I thought the game was pretty fun and felt complete. My main issue, as mentioned before, was the title screen design. Overall, I think this game is pretty good. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m glad you loved the gameplay! I like the idea of adding animated props! I will use that. I’ll also look for some sort of ambient track that fades in and out a few times to scare people XD
