Hello Everyone!
This is the thread dedicated to the update log for the Friday Updates for No More Sleep, a Sci-Fi RPG mixed with Adventure and story elements to become one of the greatest works on Roblox! No game is currently as sophisticated and original as this on the entire platform. No inspirations for this game came from other Roblox games. This game is inspired from a past MMOG, “Lego Universe” and a medieval RPG, “Skyrim,” along with a few other small games that helped inspire the process of this game.
With those games in mind, we have been inspired to create this phenomenon, No More Sleep! It is going to set forth and raise the bar to what a Roblox game can accomplish. It is planned to run on every possible platform and support it whole-heartily - not limited to: Computer, Phone, Tablet, Console, and VR.
Imagine journeying a gigantic open world with quests, weapons you can create and craft yourself, play with your friends, and have the best immersive experience of all time in a video game. Sounds great, right? To be sure that the storyline is great, we have let this idea grow for a long time. This also let us find out that this can indeed be done.
So, what are you waiting for? This journey awaits you, unlike no other. Join your friends, and together, you can save Bakerville and The Mindscape from chaos.

- An entirely new Animation Render Engine through the new ToolModule system! We threw 5 scripts away for 1 that does even more!
- Added stamina! You can now sprint and use weapons with stamina!
- Added unlockable stamina mode and unlockable imagination mode, UI bars AND UI numbers are now completely operational!
- Gigantic Map Overhaul! Every map has been improved.
- Added the Inventory system!! You can now select & equip items (1Click: select // 2Click: Equip!)
- Added PvP Zones (For testing future combat mechanics!)
- Added the Emotes Menu Functionality! Now you can do emotes in-game through the left menu. More emotes coming soon!
- Players can now walk through eachother (including fading away when Dialogue Sequences are active)
- Dialogue Engine Revamped Entirely to support RenderStepped vs. wait()-like functions. MUCH faster!!
- Fixed the Discord Webhook API system from not sending feedback data to our server!
- Greatly improved backpack inventory system and discord feedback system!
- Fixed the entire leaderboard system!!
- Audio enhancements for all maps and UI effects!
- Complete Overhaul to the Animation Priority System. Now arms won’t bug out in random locations!
- Game Settings >> Graphics Setting WILL SOON control the amount of particles and render distance in the game. We understand this setting is essential for VR players and a support update for VR UI is on its way!!
- Ditched the original Animation System, Weapon System [Client], Weapon System Database, and a lot of other scripts in favor of an object-based system!

- Revamped the entire backpack menu! Now looks a LOT cleaner.
- Revamped the entire Quest UI and game Settings for easier navigation amongst all devices (Except VR for now)

++ Update 0.6.0 - The Worldwide Update Part 1! ++

(Sorry for the long delay. We’ve been preparing a lot for the big new content update, and happy 1 year anniversary to No More Sleep!)
- Added the Original Worlds, along with New Improved Worlds to the No More Sleep Universe! Truly begin your journey in Bakerville!
- Support for ALL DEVICES with keybinds. Any computer, phone, tablet, Xbox, or VR headset (pending) that runs Roblox supports No More Sleep in the best ways possible!**
- Added WEAPONS! (testers only)All animated to their own abilities, with Light, Medium and Heavy attacks:
- Light: Takes a small amount of stamina, but can hit fast and counter heavy attacks when timed right.
- Medium: Take a bit more stamina, but has some extra punch for your buck. Use this for knocking opponents away, or countering a light attack.
- Heavy: Break blocks temporarily, and use a ton of stamina to wind up a death blow. It leaves you vulnerable to small attacks if done wrong, however!
- Added Global NPC Animations, Data, and Weapon Databases that completely support every world! No weapon will disappear when you leave to go to another world.**
- Added Sprinting in all Worlds!**
- Added an Innovative Inventory System, for all of your in-game belongings!**
- Added Quests (testers only for now, sadly.)**
- Added Zones, and a playlist system that works throughout the entire game!**
- Added TONS of lighting effects that work well on all Roblox-supported Hardware.**
- Added a Dialogue System that works across all worlds, along with quests to be given to players through them, yielding rewards at the end.**
- Added a new CPU Behavior System, along with a new, groundbreaking overhead UI!**
- Admin system made from scratch for admins!**
- Settings Menu available at the title screen w/ Wipe Data!**
and yes, we finally did it…
- Added the best Datastore system in the entire platform of Roblox!! It works like magic, and can handle TONS of data! Your data will save in between servers from now on. (Data wipes may occur depending on circumstances in the future of pre-alpha.)

What’s new in InDev Version 0.5.4?
- Added a global animation library for NPCs. Animations officially load 100% on the client, greatly increasing the speed of the game for everyone, especially for a future feature that this will be essential for!
- Fixed an arm glitch for player animations when selecting weapons
- Fixed a big bug where animations wouldn’t load to characters
- Fixed a bug where now all of the Characters in the game had animator humanoid descendants
- Fixed a bug where animations weren’t properly read through loading every descendant of the NPC global dictionary.
- Fixed a bug that made the animation dictionaries load twice for every NPC
- Fixed a lot more bugs that are too long to list!

Note: A huge update that brings in old features in a new way, specifically geared toward simplicity, memory usage, and data, all at the same time enhancing the scripting experience and player experience in the upcoming vast world of No More Sleep. We have a couple of features left before we can get to version 0.6.0, which a lot of people have been anticipating. We’re almost there, but in the meantime, enjoy the content this update has to offer!
What’s new in InDev Version 0.5.3?
- You can now skip through dialogue!!! An enhanced system that universally supports all devices. Just press whatever keybind you use to engage in conversations with.
- Added a Module-Bus Data system used for transferring data to the client and server
- Added the ability to Tween Players AND their items at any given time (It does this during dialogue sequences currently!)
- Added Keybind Hints above heads! This was an old feature that was completely revamped, and now supports all device types with our new workspace hierarchy system.
- Revamped the entire CharacterObject, EnemyObject, and System
- Fixed a rare loading bug by reloading imported modules.
- Fixed a complete script crash by unloading client-server modules from other clients.
- Loading screen actually waits for things to load properly.
- Fixed too many other little bugs to list here.
- Dismantled the old tweenTransparency function in replacement for the new efficient one that works universally. We had this function cloned in multiple scripts, wasting tons of client memory.
- Removed the old “Chat” button and overheads, and combined “Interact”'s toolset with “Chat.”

(A gigantic update! )
Note: Another magnificent update with significant process on the game’s development. This update adds LOTS of new content (the most we’ve ever had in one update!) This update also gets rid of ALL bugs from the previous version, and tremendously improves performance with LOTS of new front AND back-end features. We’re almost ready to release the worlds all linked together, including our new worlds that have been never-before seen to our public testers, then to the public to witness!
Also, our old developers are returning as well! This is truly a great and fortunate time for Oatmeal Creations!
What’s new in InDev Version 0.5.2?
- Animations are assigned to Characters again! Your characters will now be animated with the NMS Engine instead of Roblox’s engine (which we did before.) This makes it much faster and efficient!
- Added in-game music!
- Dialogue Added! Now Introducing a never-before seen feature - Dialogue Options!!! You can now communicate with NPCs in a majority of ways.
- Also Introducing the new Dialogue Tree NPC System, and Event-Driven Dialogue. Currently, Event is the only available, but in the next release (or next next release) Dialogue Tree should be an option!
- New Weapons/Items Database, accessible through the entire client.
- Focusing Abilities return! Now you can focus and UNFOCUS (New)
- Fixed a CRUCIAL bug where modules would halt the entire client from running any scripts
- Fixed a bug where menu wouldn’t respond to clicking. Expect XBox support for the menu soon!
- Fixed a bug with Animation-Based Character Movement where you would run in place, or at the wrong times.
- Fixed another bug that prevented running animations from playing.
- Soon to be working on Datastore information.

++ Update 0.5.1 - The Huge Improvements and TONS of New Content Update ++

Note: This update completely changes everything. TONS of lag reduction, simplicity, and performance enhancements. This was definitely the way to go. Our original developer team came back this week as well, so I can definitely say the future of Oatmeal Creations is looking bright! Let’s shoot for the moon and get ready for Pre-Alpha, we’re getting close!
What’s new in InDev Version 0.5.1?
- Added Easy-Import, our new original feature to all client-sided scripts!
- Added Animations back to the game in an efficient way.
- Added Global-use Animations. Animations can now be called and entirely loaded onto every script in the game in literally 1 second when the player joins!
- Added AnimationPriorities, fixing animation overlapping issues prior to this version.
- Instead of a 30 second loading screen for loading the intro, loading speeds went from 30 seconds in early InDev updates to LITERALLY 2 seconds as of version 0.5.1! (Easy-Import and Modules make this possible!)
- Added global SetSpeed, making it possible to change the player’s speed from any Client-based script
- Improved universal utilities tremendously, now it supports wrapping functions for multithreading, and WaitForChild. This tremendously speeds up production speeds pertaining to game code, and it’s less of a pain for finding (and fixing) bugs.
- Removed entire old animation system for a complete re-do.
- Removed the entire server-side of scripts to be entirely redone in a future update.
- Removed old animation loading system
- Removed old datastore system for a complete re-do in a nearby future update. (WARNING: Data will not save in this version as we’re actively working on a new datastore system!)

Note: This was a REALLY big update. Mostly with back-end stuff, but the entire game was remade pretty much. From here on out, No More Sleep will work as a library system. This way, the code for the worlds will all link together at the same time. When a new feature is added to the code base, it updates in all worlds.
What’s new in InDev Version 0.5.0?
- Elec-Tree City, the town of electric-powered trees is out for testing!
- Lots of new Elec-Tree City content has been added!

Features:
- Revamped the ENTIRE Dialogue System, now we will be able to work on more situational systems rather than having to deal with adding millions of lines of code.
- Revamped the ENTIRE Shop System, you can now browse any shop with ease, and purchase what you can afford. The shop will charge you and give you the purchased item (as shops should do!)
- Revamped MOST of the weapon system. It automatically selects the class of animations to preload for the weapons, so now it will properly load animations. Sprinting support is yet to be added.
- New Long-Term Goals for the Game have been established, and will be announced when this update takes effect!
- Added a quest giving NPC to test Quest Complexity with the UI applying to the Database
- Adding a skip function hotkey for computer users when entering dialogue
- Finishing up some map work, design works, and script system inputs. There are for sure going to be bugs in the beginning, which is what we will cover in the next update!

- THE SHOPS NOW FUNCTION!!
- MAP UPDATES! We have new improved maps, including to the testing place, which will have a lot of new content coming in the coming weeks
- Updated Sprint System! Built in now with an epic sprint animation and lots of bug fixes!
- Added shop remote event functionality
- Added a Mob Database, RemoteEvent Database for mobs and player combat, and server management system
- Established a way to connect the server to the PLAYERDATA database. This is HUGE for the future! The server can now access weapons, items, quests,
events, playerdata (including Qoins [The currency,] your Level, Quests, and tons of Stats that are improved throughout the experience of this game!) - A gigantic shop breakthrough with database interaction, now the server (AND CLIENT) can now access and CHANGE database values. This lets your
Qoin values, levels, Exp, Quests, and event values change! All that’s left is to save these values to a datastore & apply them to the UI (Next update.) - Animation Priority corrections and improvements. You no longer can “walk/run/sprint in the air like an anime character.”
- Improved Zone System to be more efficient

Most of what is going on in this update log is behind the scenes, although there are heavy improvements

- Added new UI Animations & Tweens, along with new artwork provided in the UI upgrade!

- A LOT of work is being done ensuring a great gameplay experience, for all platforms
- Added a new GIANT script for weapon management!
- Added (With special thanks to Moonvane) a very incredible leaderboard UI update with automatic canvas resizing capabilities!
- Rough sketches being worked on for weapon fighting styles for in-game battle system mechanics
- Added 2 groundbreaking animations to work with the StaffAnimType Database for staff-based weapons (Based on the poll)
- Added a redesign of animation mechanics for weapons
- Revamped the Chat System (With FE Support and better optimization for small devices!)
- Made Dialogue fully appear to its best potential for all devices (Phones can now read text without any more issues!)
- Created a weapon database system, for the shop system to read directly from a module script, safer, faster, and will allow for easier access to future weapon additions!
- A major redesign of the shop system inside and out, along with improved mechanics for speed and user experience (More to be done with this soon!)

Just a quick update, we’ve been making quite a bit of progress!! More is to come in this next
Friday Update! Unfortunately, I’m not going to have as much time to work on the game after this week’s
update, which is why I’m currently trying to expand our dev team. There are so many talented people in
this group, and I have to give a special thanks to Shadowspider76 and DynoSpade for doing such an
incredible job with taking this project by the heart and working super hard. As always, we will
continue to update this game and get it on the front page! Updates may be slower for a tiny bit,
but know that it will speed up again in the future once we get some more amazing people helping us!

- TONS of work has been done on amplifying the game this week, last week, and the three weeks before.
- Game now works flawlessly on Computer, Tablet, and Console!
- Added a new world: The NMS Testing World
- The world contains minigames, so now you can fight against eachother with weapons being worked on!
- Added shops! Will soon work with the camera system!
- TONS of data implementation and debugging for datastore access
- Refining of animation system
- Added a new cameo system, along with additional members added to the Bakerville Cafe!
- Game also available on mobile (phone) and VR (Work is still being done on these
- Datastores are now fully functional! (Let me know if there are any more bugs!)
- Added a BRAND NEW Music System!
- Added a new map (Ghost Town)
- Added perfect sprint system (Nearly fully implemented)
- Added a town system, so you can cross areas with music changing and the place updating using FireClient()! (This took absolutely forever lol)
- Re-Added the Roblox CoreUI for testing (We’ll just remove it once the new chat system is already in place.)
- Rebuilt the chat system to work for the best user experience (Improvements will continue to be made to fit all devices that support chat eventually!)
- Added a new map (to be revealed next week)
- Keybindings adapt to whatever console
- Sprinting now regenerates twice as fast!
- Fixed a glitch where you could leave the house from anywhere, now you have to be by the door
- Made the button above Characters’ heads disappear when you’re talking to one of them.

enhancements that should’ve been addressed early on. (This is

- Added a Developer Test Mode for more efficient debugging (FINALLY!!)
- Added XBox Controller embedded support. Checked off the list for working!
- Added support for alt sprinting once more
- Added embedded support for Mobile Devices, text above NPC heads now say things like “Talk” or “Interact”
- Greatly improved the introduction with performance boost (Involving a start-on animation!)
- Improved sprinting where you have to run in order to use it up (Still in the works)
- GUI Enhancements are being worked on

- Added the Explorer faction! A Great, wide valley with tons of great and important places!
- Added the Mine, a place where you can get raw materials and craft items, and trade with local traders.
- The mine also includes the Mindful Marketplace, where players can trade their own items into a datastore (Still in Development!)
- Added the Mindscape Bank, exclusively available to the Explorer Faction
- Working on another exclusive minigame, Jungle (Still in Development!)
- Continued story and plot development, improving the story base.
- Added sprinting (COMES ON MOBILE!) with ContextActionService!

- A REVOLUTIONARY User Interface! It’s been debugged to oblivion and has original artwork!

- Added the Thoughtful faction. It’s a big red area that wraps around until you get to the base!

I wish Roblox let me place scripts on a library that goes across multiple servers, but for now,
I updated all of the scripts to be consistent throughout the entire game so far, meaning the
Mindscape now has mobile support! - You can now die in the game and not break it! Epic win :3
- NotificationService is carried throughout the game!
- A bunch of new animations, including jumping in the backstory place!
- You can now go indoors! It’s not perfect yet but it’s added, and glitches are there but hard to find.
- Working on Datastores, so people’s progress and location in the game can save. Stay tuned!
- Removed the current inventory system in place for the new one coming out the next update.
- Deleted a bunch of old unnecessary code. The game should be running quite a bit faster now!
