Nvidia Instant Replay/Recording feature does not detect Roblox

The latest versions of the Roblox client are incompatible with Nvidia’s instant replay/recording feature. This issue is not related to Nvidia’s drivers; the same driver version worked normally weeks ago.

It is important to note that Roblox was detected as a game application in the Nvidia app, but the recording feature itself fails to detect the game.

Expected behavior

Nvidia’s instant replay and recording feature should properly detect the Roblox game client.

I think this is a result of the code-signing update that Roblox did that broke shaders. I don’t know for sure and I am not an expert but that is my guess.

Roblox has recently implemented much stricter code signing requirements, which has led to these issues. These changes have also broken support for OBS game capture when Vulkan is set as the rendering API, and have affected Nvidia Ansel as well. It’s quite unfortunate.

Nvidia can’t necessarily do anything unless they get the specified modules required for replay signed by Microsoft. Nvidia can only get components that are a part of the display driver signed by Microsoft. Roblox has limited code signing to Microsoft and themselves only, so it has broken compatibility for a lot of legitimate applications.

I really hope they fix this I use nvidia recording feature to record my videos obs studio doesn’t work well for me

Am I the only one who doesn’t have this issue? I still can record with Nvidia and use Shadowplay aswell on Roblox.

shadowplay works if youre using desktop capture, it just saves to the desktop folder instead

How to I set it to desktop capture?

alt z, settings icon, video capture, then youll see a desktop capture toggle at the top (for laptops it only works/appears if you have a monitor connected to your dgpu or your laptop has a discrete gpu mode)

well it isn’t a dgpu but a discrete one so let me try it Note: okay I looked and I didn’t see the option I guess it was removed with the new version of shadowplay

Nvidia recording still works for me, and it is NOT desktop recording. It saves to the “Roblox VR” Folder. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be called that (I never used a vr headset ever), I use Bloxstrap and maybe that could be involved in it still working for me???

unsure if this is worth mentioning but i still use geforce experience and NOT the new nvidia app due to having more issues with the new app when i tried it but id like to report im able to use nvidia shadowplay to record the roblox game client. probably doesnt make a difference but i thought i’d mention it
note: i also use bloxstrap so maybe thats a factor too?

I also use GeForce Experience for the same reason. Nvidia ShadowPlay doesn’t work for me unless I turn on Desktop Capture at the moment.
