Nvidia Instant Replay/Recording feature does not detect Roblox

Desktop won’t work for me as I have other tabs open on the same screen. It records everything including the task bar. I dont want to crop it down for every single video, and I dont want to force myself to play in fullscreen. the only solution i’ve seen is to use the roblox app on the microsoft store, which i absolutely never plan on doing.

and where can I find your channel?

just search my display name on youtube and put at then end “_YT”

Recording does work on the roblox app if you download it via microsoft store, but who uses that anyway

Roblox is dropping support for the Microsoft Store version soon, so that won’t work for long. I proposed a solution in another forum post, but only Roblox can implement it or explore other potential options.

They haven’t officially announced dropping support for the Microsoft Store Version anywhere nor any engineer/staff/employee confirmed that.

This isn’t an official source and it doesn’t provide enough proof.

I talked about this already with the owner/holder of RTC.

You can read the above comment and the following replies between me and him.

It could be incorrect, but I don’t necessarily see it as unlikely because Microsoft takes a 30% cut, which is unnecessary on computers, unlike mobile, where Roblox doesn’t necessarily have a choice. Also, Roblox isn’t able to implement all of their security changes on the Microsoft Store version, as far as I know, and that’s why you can use Nvidia Replay on that version, so they might soon pull it from the Microsoft Store with all that considered.

Take all of the rumours with a grain of salt for now. When enough proof and signs appear of that happening then we might be able to talk about this. Or even better, just actually wait for an official announcement or a Roblox staff/engineer/employee stating that. Also, the cut isn’t 30%, it’s way lower. It’s 15% for normal apps and 12% for games. That’s according to the latest information I could find. Additionally, I doubt most people purchase things from the app. I think most do on the website.

I did look into the cut that the Microsoft Store does take, and yes, I was incorrect about that, so I apologize.

That said, the security concerns are still valid. I also don’t think many users use the Windows Store version of Roblox, so I still don’t see it as unlikely or impractical that Roblox might eventually drop support for it.

Either way, I think Roblox should allow some code-signing signatures on the standard web client version, especially for things like Vulkan layers. Without that, it’s not possible to provide a secure solution for something like Roblox shaders, OBS Game Capture, among other things.

What you said about security measures is indeed valid, however, how many exploits exist in the Microsoft Store and doesn’t in the desktop app because of it? I don’t think it’s a big problem. To me, the Microsoft store app is supposed to actually be more secure due to it being sandboxed but somehow it isn’t.

Eitherways, I am not opposing them discontinuing support for it. I am fully with it. It’s way worse and got many downsides that doesn’t exist in the desktop app.

If you don’t see this as enough evidence, then these flags might help you out:

FFlagUwpMigrationDialog - Starts Phase 1 dialog on Microsoft Store announcing that it will die
FFlagUwpMigrationNextPhase - Starts Phase 3 dialog saying it has shutdown and you cannot use it anymore

To enable these, you go to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\ROBLOXCORPORATION.ROBLOX_55nm5eh3cm0pr\LocalState\ on your computer, make a ClientSettings folder and do

{
“flagname”: “True”
}

depending on what you want to test.

Now, of course, this proves that the tweet is real and that Roblox has code to shutdown the Microsoft Store version recently added. They could always jump back and change mind.

I can’t confirm this because everytime I adjust FFlags in the txt file, save it, close it, then open Roblox, I check it and see no changes, then I notice that the flags got reset to default again in the txt file…

My apologies, I brought you to the wrong file, don’t change the XML. Make a folder in the same directory, called ClientSettings then make a file called ClientAppSettings.json

Replace the flag name with what you want to test
I edited the directory in the post to reflect the changes

There’s already a ClientSettings folder and it contains a file named IxpSettings.json. Now I did try deleting the already existing ClientSettings folder and creating a new one with the same name, creating a txt file and naming it ClientAppSettings.json then putting the FFlag and saving it. So after doing that, the Roblox app just created the file IxpSettings.json again. :sob:

Does this look the same as your setup?

Note: You only need one since each do different things and don’t put a comma after the last one

I don’t want to flood this post since it is not about the Microsoft Store, but I noticed that you have forgot a quotation mark at the end of Phase (")

If you got confused about the comma (,) , I was referring just incase if you were putting both of them and you were seperating each with a comma

Make sure you restart it afterwards

Okay so it actually seem to be true. Thanks to @idknametoget, we continued this conversation on private messages and I was able to adjust and enable the FFlags on the Microsoft Store version of Roblox.

This dialog appears when the phase 1 flag is enabled:-

And this appear when phase 2 flag is enabled:-

Interestingly enough, the Microsoft Store app is currently two versions old, so it might be a sign that this will happen soon. I’ve updated it to the latest version and the latest version for it is release 670, while the latest version for all other platforms is release 672. Add to that that the Microsoft Store app haven’t been updated with the new icon too. I wonder when will this happen and if it will happen really soon…
