This is the Obby Master Update Log, where I update about Obby Master’s recent updates.

WHAT IS OBBY MASTER:

There are two classes, the chasers and masters. A master is selected each round. The master must build an obby for the chasers to beat and the chasers must tag the master!

Custom traps:

Be able to add your own traps to Obby Master using this template: https://create.roblox.com/store/asset/86032056968310

Only in Private Servers:

Be able to add custom trap IDs in the private server settings menu. Custom traps are seperate from default traps and have no limit.

Due to roblox’s horrible implementation of player customization, there is a whitelist for custom traps.

With the new Custom Traps update, there’s now a contest for trap making! More details will be given out later.

  • Daily Quests

Get up to three quests per day and complete them daily for a special prize! There is a quest streak feature that would show how many days you fully completely quests and I might add features relating to this

  • Progress Bar & Progression Rework

There is now a progress bar to show every player’s progress in the obby and failure to reach the end of the obby results in progression based of how far you reached in the obby.

  • Collectable Coins

Similarly to Obby Leader, there is a 0.85% chance for every part placed, a coin will spawn, providing with 5 points on touch.

  • Pro Servers

Pro Servers have been added to separate noobs and pros! The requirement to enter is Level 20 and pro-server exclusive content is to come soon!

ECONOMY BALANCING:

BOOSTS

  • Dash: 250 → 500
  • Firework: 300 → 500
  • Low Gravity: 150 → 250
  • Reversal: 500 → 1250
  • Support Part: 150 → 250
  • Teleportation: 200 → 1250

Why: Boosts are unlocked way too early in progression with one or two wins resulting in the first boosts being unlocked.

TRAPS

  • Lava Walk: 50 → 200
  • Lava Jump: 50 → 150

Why: Too cheap for a quite a complicated trap.

CROWNS

  • Original Crown: 50 → 100
  • Ice Crown: 500 → 1000
  • Flat Crown: 500 → 1250
  • Golden Halo: 1000 → 1500
  • 2D Crown: 2500 → 3000

Why: Crown cosmetics are meant to be super costly as they are the end-game for maxed out players and making the good ones cheap will not allow for any replayability.

Alpha Release v2.0.1

Bugfixes:

  • Support part is no longer permanent after leave.
  • Low gravity is no longer server-wide
  • Fixed master floating
  • Fixed weird damage with damage bricks
  • Failure to tag the master rewards in 1/10 of the points/xp gain.
  • All parts created by boosts will be related to their usage time, with the exception of dash.

Balance Changes:

  • Points Buff: Every win is now 100 points instead of 10 points, all other gamemodes than classic rewards 1.5x of the classic, rather than 2x.
    I will be inspecting how big this buff is. I will also do a small inflation of every single item.

BOOSTS

DASH:

  • Cost: 100 → 250
  • Recharge: 20s → 30s

Dash is quite underrated and is quite strong and fast to charge.

ROCKET:

  • Cost: 100 → 300

Rocket’s cost is buffed due to it being a hard to use boost, making it a bit later to get, but rocket should be easier to get than before due to the points buff.

LOW GRAVITY:

  • Cost: 50 → 150

This is a small change. It shouldn’t really affect the rate of unlock.

REVERSAL:

  • Cost: 300 → 500

One of the more complicated boosts, making this harder to get.

SPEED BOOST:

  • Cost: 50 → 100

This will make speed boost one of the first boosts to unlock.

SUPPORT PART:

  • Recharge: 30s → 20s

Support part is quite weak as it has no special effects other than placing a part. This should make it much more useful.

TELEPORTATION:

  • Teleport Range: 25% - 75% → 25% to 50%
  • Recharge: 30s → 60s

Teleport has such a strong ability that using this once or twice makes from you turn from last place to a winning situation, making you first, despite its RNG natural. This should tune it down by a lot as it’s basically a checkpoint boost.

PATHS

From here onwards, it’s all cost changes:

Ball Path: 25 → 100
Conveyor Path: 200 → 500
Ghost Path: 150 → 300
Ice Path: 100 → 200
Thin Path: 100 → 150

TRAPS

Truss: 25 → 50
Wall Climb: 100 → 200
Lava Checkers: 150 → 300
Lava Conveyor: 300 → 500

CROWNS

Original Crown: 25 → 50
Flat Crown & Ice Crown: 300 → 500
Golden Halo: 500 → 1000, Rarity downgrade: Everlasting → Epic

TRAPS:

  • New master addition: Traps!

How would they work?

  • All traps are placed randomly across the map. Upon contact, they appear into existence and are interactable!
  • All traps are given a weight scale to signify how much a trap spawns in a game.
  • All players have a minimum of 1 trap and a maximum of 3 traps.
  • Everyone gets a free trap, Lava Path!

  • There are 3 new game modes being added this update!

ALL GAMEMODES [WITH PERCENTAGE & DESCRIPTION]:

  • Classic: Original Obby Master with no changes. [60%]
  • Multiplier: Double currency gain and longer time. [20%]
  • Hardcore: 30 seconds for everything. [15%]
  • Master Madness: Masters have boosts [5%]

Boosts

  • Support Part: Spawns a block below you [Cost: 150, Recharge: 30, Duration: 10]
  • Teleportation: Teleport randomly between 25% to 75% of the obby [Cost: 200, Recharge: 30]

Paths

  • Truss Path: A trusty truss path. Turns your path into a truss part. [Cost: 50]
  • Conveyor Path: Why am I moving?? Turns your path into a moving conveyor belt. [Cost: 200]

Crowns

  • “Who is the master?”: Me! I am. [Rarity: Rare, Cost: 300]
  • Flat Crown: Who dragged a 2D crown into the 3D plane? [Rarity: Rare, Cost: 300]
  • 2D Crown: This 2D crown refuses to go to its 3D form! What a unique sight… [Rarity: Everlasting, Cost: 1000]

Small cosmetic info:

  • Rarities of cosmetics go from: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Everlasting.
  • “Everlasting” cosmetics are exclusive cosmetics and only stay in the shop for a limited amount of time.
  • Limited rarity cosmetics are getting their rarity changed to “Everlasting”.

BALANCE CHANGES

Dash:

  • Recharge: 10s → 20s [NERF]

Rocket:

  • Recharge: 30s → 45s [NERF]

Low Gravity:

  • Recharge: 15s → 20s [NERF]
  • Duration: 10s → 5s [NERF]

Rewind:

  • Recharge: 20s → 30s [NERF]

Speed Boost:

  • Recharge: 15s → 20s [NERF]

WHY: Boosts currently give such strong advantages over masters that the ratio between master and chaser wins is super high, making for a super unbalanced power difference. By reducing the rate of boosts per game allows for more strategic uses of boosts and make boosts more balanced.

New leader equippable, PATHS.

  • How do paths work?

You can equip paths and select from 1 to 3. Paths last for 10 seconds and the first path starts 10 seconds after the wall is destroyed.

  • There are three new equippable paths to choose from:

Ball: The path is turned into small balls
Ghost: The path is transparent and hard to see.
Ice: The path is slippery and hard to walk on.

New boost

  • Rewind: Rewinds time and goes back to the position 3 seconds before. To ensure you don’t fall to your death, a block is spawned underneath you.

Bug-fixes & other changes

  • Ladders and zigzags are patched
  • Low gravity bug is patched
  • Major polish to the UI
  • Cool little path tween
  • Reworked master picking system.
  • Points based on progress you made as a chaser

  • Master gets points even when a chaser tagged them. The formula for the points is floor(10 * [(winners - players)/players)])

Balance Changes

All that is being added is to the balance changes is cost changes.

Dash

  • COST: 30 → 100
  • REWORK: Spawns a block, ONLY visible to you, once the dash is finished. Disappears when reset or after 3 seconds

Why: Hard to estimate the dash, therefore it’s better to have a safety platform to hold you after the dash.

Firework

  • COST: 10 → 100

Low Gravity

  • COST: 10 → 50

Speed Boost

  • COST: 15 → 50

Alpha Release v.1.0.4.1:

Balance changes

  • Low Gravity:

Duration: 10s → 5s

Why: Low Gravity is way too fast to recharge and lasts for too long.

  • Dash

Duration: 1s → 0.5s
Recharge: 30s → 10s

Why: Dash is quite an underwhelming and hard to use boost with the dash being too long.

Alpha Release v1.0.4:

Customized Boost Stats

  • All boosts still cost 10 points, will be adjusted in the future
  • Firework & Dash have a recharge of 30 seconds now

Leaderboards

  • Hidden stats have been added for chaser and master wins.
  • Three leaderboards have been added for points, master & chaser wins.

Bug-fix?

  • Updated the base movement system so it’s client-sided again but it rises based on your FPS. Will be adjusted in the future for sure.
