Obby Tycoon - Feedback Thread

Hello!
I’m looking for feedback on my solo-dev game that I have been working on for the past year and a bit! The game has a high advertising budget so I want to ensure that it is perfect for release!

The game is called Obby Tycoon.

Obby Tycoon is a combination of Obbies and Tycoons (hence the name). The player purchases the obbies, and an NPC will complete it, earning the player money! The NPCs will also occasionally fail the obby, bringing a slight RNG aspect into the game!

Below are a couple of videos show casing it (old videos).

It’s a unique game idea and I like it. It takes aspects from 2 different genres and blends them together, creating an interesting twist I’ve never seen before.

Just a suggestion: Set limits on how many NPCs a player can see at once. For instance, only loading NPCs from other players’ tycoons when they enter it, and have a settings panel where you can set the distance to “Near”, “Medium”, and “Far”.

Other than that, I have high hopes for this game and looking forward to its release!

There is a setting that allows them to adjust the maximum number of visible NPCs, but I’ll see if I can implement a distance based visibility thing too! Thanks for the feedback!

Hey there. I haven’t played the game yet but it seems like a high quality game. Only things I could say is maybe improve the decorations and just small things like changing the ending check point to a cylinder etc will just make it feel polished other than that I wish you great success.

I haven’t really played it but from the looks I’d say that its not too good. It needs a lot of work put in to it if you want it to succeed. Else… yea…

For example!
GUI is too large. The builds are quite low quality. There isn’t much detail put into it. And according to one of my friend while changing station it literally earrapes the players.

Going to lower the GUI size a little build, and will fix the bug with the stations. As I’m a solo dev who specialises in scripting, I can’t do a whole lot about build quality.

edit: Fixed the audio bug

Well you can always learn building yknow? If you want to be a full-time roblox developer you would have to master all skills. If not master then say just some intermediete level info!

Like you should know how to model complex items say guns, melee weapons, etc.

For gui design you must know what the current gui trend is and use color palletes (I personally go with 🎨 Material Design Colors, Color Palette | Material UI )

For building you should only have a good sense of imagination and architectural design ideas. If you don’t then bing exists. (JK who uses bing!? [P.S] sorry bill )

For animation use blender because if you use blender then you are automatically a master in animation.

UI, modelling and animation I’m usually alright at (modelling not overly good but still sufficient IG). I don’t have a good sense of imagination which is problematic with building

As I mentioned bing exists, you can use it to find some inspiration of how said thing looks. Its never wrong taking inspiration but just don’t copy.
