Oceanic Theme Map

Hey all devs, so I am on the point of actually giving up with development, I been trying non stop to get games out that can atleast maintain a player base however, this one is different, I spent about 8 days on this map to raise awareness on ocean pollution and we can make it better, the map looks really epic in my opinion, but clearly it sucks when it comes to other people’s opinions. Please can u have a look and tell me what am I doing wrong, like I am at the point of just giving up and leaving development for good at this point.

Did you make any of the meshes yourself? If not, then I think you should get into Blender or some external 3D software. You have an exceptional creative vision as far as I’m concerned, and if you’re really passionate about this then success is only a matter of time. Game development clearly isn’t as simple as you want it to be, to maintain a consistent player base you need to acknowledge a lot of contributing factors, you may just need to stick with it longer and gain some good experience. You really shouldn’t give up.

Hey Scary, I did indeed. The entire map was made by me, everything in the map is meshes I made from blender itself.

Don’t get discouraged if it’s not your time to shine yet.
You made a great looking map and there’s nothing you are doing wrong. You are on the right path.

I hope so mate, I hope so. But thank you for taking the time to explore and analysing every aspect.

Looks pretty interesting. I’d probably suggest giving the players the option to sprint though, Shiney.

That’s cool. I really love the soundtrack, at the beginning it feels like you’re in the middle of the ocean. The main reason I dislike this a lil’ bit is because the UI font seems a bit cartoonish.

Also make it more interactive dammit, I want more than js picking up trash. A simple fish moving animation for example would be enough to make the game.

Please don’t use AI to make icons/thumbnails. It is very off-putting for older audiences.
If you’re going to use AI, then just make it give you icon/thumbnail ideas instead so that you can build those pictures yourself. It will make your game look better and will not make people think it is a cheap cash grab.

Overall, pretty well built.

Ah I see, that makes a lot of sense yes. I will make sure to start working on that and release asap.

I recommend editing out the flaws of the AI image using Gimp.

People look for those flaws because they want to be bothered by it.

I am not bothered because of the flaws in the image. I am bothered because they used AI to make that image instead of themselves.

It’s not that hard to import characters into roblox studio, pose them in some way, then take a screenshot and edit the screenshot in a drawing software.

Ok well she don’t need me defending her.

However, as some one as creative as I am, I support AI because I’d NEVER allow for other people to tell me what to do and how I should do it.

Using AI is a creative decision and should be welcomed, and having the right to chose is very important in regards to encouraging and protecting original ideas.

Hey there! I want to start by saying that you’ve done an amazing job, and it would be a shame to give up on the talent and vision you have. Now, let me get to the game part.

The game idea is really good and unique (as far as I know). However, I noticed a few things that you could tweak to improve the overall experience for your players:

  • Try creating your own thumbnail or replacing the overly crowded AI-generated one. It’s not very appealing to users who come across your experience.
  • If possible, improve the lighting in the map. I understand the underwater aesthetic, but the current visibility makes it quite hard to see.
  • I saw someone suggest a sprint option, but it would also be great to slightly increase the base movement speed for players.

Other than that, I didn’t notice any major issues. In my opinion, this has a lot of potential and could turn up as a really unique education experience on Roblox. I wish you the best of luck on your development journey!

Definitely needs some more interactive things, like if I wanted to learn more about a particular species, perhaps I could interact with its tank/image to pull up a GUI to read more about it.

Also, whilst I really like the map design aside from the bubbles it feels really static. I think with what you’re going for you want a really animated/dynamic environment that feels alive.

You also say on one of the messages that all donations go to conservation centres, and I think you should be more transparent about how that works and what conservation centre you’re supporting.

I’m a big fan in general of educational games and I think this one has a lot of potential and would love to see how it pans out with future development.

Thumbnail flaws (just a list):
There is a car in the sea
There are bubbles in the air
There is coral on land
Why are the fish all the same and facing the same way?
There is a random waterfall which comes out of nowwhere in the background
There’s more but.

Thanks for the feedback, I am thinking of redoing the thumbnail as many are saying its not the greatest. So I will make sure to sort it out ASAP…

Thanks for this, very informative, will make sure to make these changes and hopefully have it up and running right. i am also currently busy on a diving system where players will be able to go diving in the actual ocean to make it somewhat playable for the majority. I just think it’s going to lag out the mobile players, it will be super laggy for them though.

This is very helpful thanks mate, I did think of adding these but I didnt want to over crowd the place, but I see where u coming from, being more open and transparent as to what centres I will be donating to, and how it will take place and so on. i will make sure to add all of these ideas and give it a test run.
