Offer Roblox stock as a DevEx option

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to DevEx my earnings and convert it directly to the newly opened $RBLX stock.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because it would allow me to directly invest my earnings into a meaningful place without being forced to go via a range of options which may offer a poor business model, it would be better to directly offer a stock based on the market rate at the time.

As much as I would like to consider this being a possible option, this just isn’t feasible.

The point I’d like to make about this is also the legality and possibility of it, as far as I’m aware buying something on the Stock Exchange will require even more sets of identify verification and approval so even by the time everything is set up, it’s not a feasible option to it to even be considered giving it to you let alone the transfer.

As much as I genuinely do love this idea, I’m unsure as to how it would work properly so if you have any insight on a way that you see this occurring I would love to hear it.

You still pay the same taxes? Is this purely the convenience of not having to wait 5 days for money to transfer between accounts, and saving you 3 clicks each month?

As much as I like the idea, I don’t think it would work out great in the long run.

From my understanding of how trading works - more is less. Roblox also isn’t planning on adding more stock any time soon so if they kept up with that decision while making the stock an option for devex, someone else would have to give up on their stock. If it was an option, Roblox would have to keep on adding shares which would, in turn, lower the value of the said stock.

This is probably a bad idea. There’s almost certainly some legal liabilities to giving thousands of minors stocks.

You fill out tax forms for DevEx, why can’t you just sign another one for this offer? As per my original post, you would be bidding at the market price and then transfer the stock to you via standard means. If it falls through, like with other Tipalti, it’ll go back to your account and you could try again or use a different method.

Okay but more fees. Paying fees on exiting, paying fees on going back in, on top of all the money for stocks. That’s lost money for going to the moon. :rocket: :rocket:

This request does not force Roblox to add to the amount of stock possible, the suggestion is that on when you cashout (from Tipalti portal) that you bid at the market rate at the time of the request, see earlier in my reply.

This is a non-response, PayPal is an option and is 18+ and custodial accounts accounts exist. Roblox can either limit to 18+ like with PayPal or allow custodial accounts to be used.

Roblox would need to maintain its own brokerage firm or have a partnership with a brokerage firm to be able to do this legally. It’s not very feasible and Tipalti doesn’t do this. Just like Tipalti, they wouldn’t eat the fees for you either, you’d still be paying them. I don’t think they should waste engineering and legal capacity on this, just cash out and then buy.

Hmm, I would had expected the resources to go via a partnership. This would be a more long term investment which would actively incentivise developers to reinvest into Roblox.

Fees wise, I wouldn’t expect them to not charge such fees, but rather using a direct method in which reduces the fees from paying fees going from Roblox → Bank, then Bank → Stock Broker, etc., which may not make the most economic sense in terms of fees vs a more direct method.
