"Oh NOOOOES INTERPOLATE"

So at sporadic intervals my game will start spamming this in the local output.
I have no repro for this as it is sporadic, and I have no scripts that print out that message, so it seems to be coming from something inside roblox.

It’s spamming it so hard to the point where it’s lagging my character from the sheer amount of text being created in the F9 console window. Joining another game session usually fixes it, but I have no idea what causes this warning/message to pop up and it’s very annoying.

Is anyone aware of what this is or how to stop it from happening?

Hah, this has become somewhat of a joke in the office. My understanding is that it’s been fixed and will be released shortly.

So ugh…

I put this message in when Interpolation outputs a NaN or Inf as a result of lerping between 2 frames. The math itself shouldn’t cause it, so my guess is that you have something that is putting Nan or Inf into the physical position of objects that are being interpolated.

That being said, this message should go away in a few weeks…

a classic indication of maintenance since the very beginning.

Have changes to the physics of SpringConstaint, PrismConstraint or HingeConstraint occured as I am getting more cars flying into oblivion when crashing or changing the network ownership back to auto which causes this to spam the console?

Not that I know of. Would check with @chefdeletat, or perhaps make a new Client Bugs report if you can repro it.

I love you for this… this shouldn’t be removed

I haven’t had a good laugh in a while. Thanks for giving me one today! :joy:

Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong :upside_down_face:

There hasn’t been any changes to constraints or solver recently. Not sure what can be causing the cars exploding more than before.

Please try to provide a repro together with a place.

Thanks!

I spent about 30 minutes the other day trying to look for any meshes with a “freemodel virus” script in it.

Turns out it wasn’t a virus from a mesh, it was just a debug output for ROBLOX. :joy:

Just got the same hilarious message.
Seemed to happen after the error as you can see in this image. So maybe it has something to do with that? I’ll try and find a repro but short on time.

Edit: If I get the error again the message doesn’t appear. Maybe it only appears with errors occasionally.

Oh NOOOOES INTERPOLATE

What’s even causing this? At first I thought it was TweenService, because I abuse it something chronic.

For me it was having an NPC glitch super far outside the map, so basically having parts (moving parts?) at insanely huge position values.

Closing this issue as it has been resolved.

Hey everyone - I know we necroposted here, but we’re closing out + responding to some of the most popular historical reports. So sorry we took so long. I promise we’re doing everything in our power to improve responsiveness to bug reports.
