As a Roblox user, it is currently too hard to legitimately trade limiteds. A lot of limiteds have their Average-Price/RAP artificially inflated.
Generally what people do is put their limited up for sale for a ridiculous price, then go on an alt and buy said limited from themself. This makes the limited’s previeved worth go up.
Why even allow players to buy limiteds at any price in the first place? Why not only allow players to buy the cheapest available one?
I’m sure the Roblox catalog is an intricate ecosystem, and I won’t pretend to be smart enough to understand the thought process behind this, but inflated item prices are kinda annoying.
If this issue is addressed, it would improve my general experience because the on-display RAP of limiteds would be more trustworthy.
If someone buys their own item, they will always lose 30% of the money. So, for instance, if I want my item’s RAP to go up, and put it on sale for 200k, and buy it with my alt, I will lose 60k Robux, and I will gain absolutely nothing. The RAP won’t reach the price I paid, after my purchase, and even if it does, it needs to go way more up for me to get back the 30% I lost, and make a profit.
If the person owns multiple copies of the item, shelling out 60K to inflate the RAP might be worth it.
Usually this doesn’t happen with 200K items, it happens with cheaper items.
I will almost never agree with a feature request that suggests restricting my available options on the imagination platform. I don’t agree with this feature request at all.
I prefer to buy and sell limiteds at any price I want and choose which seller is getting my money. I don’t want it going to the cheapest seller which may be an illegitimate sale to begin with (item obtained through illegitimate methods or otherwise). It gets too messy at that point and I’ve never really been a fan of the behaviours of the trading community when it comes to allegedly stolen items.
I understand people in the trading community like to trade and play value like a stock market but that doesn’t mean that restrictions should be placed on the market because of it. I’m always willing to pay higher if it means avoiding a potentially illegitimate sale or because I feel like giving someone some extra Robux so I can get my hat. I like my aesthetics and want to be able to purchase them without having the burden of some nonsense arbitrary restriction. I want to know exactly who my seller is and what my options are.
Limiteds aren’t as one sided as “you buy them, you sell them.”
They can be poisoned; you may not want to buy a cheaper than normal limited. They have previous owners, you may want to buy a limited from a specific person. They have serials, meaning rare numbers such as #1337 or #1-10 are very valuable.
There are many, many more unmentioned reasons not to restrict limited purchase to only the cheapest. I oppose this feature request and would be very upset if it were implemented.
