Opening a Local Place File directly through Windows Explorer, will make CTRL + S not save to the local file

Info

Windows 10 - 64 Bit
Studio: Version 0.639.0.6390692 (64bit)

Description

There has been this new Loading Window when you attempt to open a place. When you open a Roblox File directly through the Windows Explorer, CTRL + S won’t save to the file, it will instead tell you to publish it.

I don’t recall this happening before.

Re-production Steps

Maybe a requirement is that you need to have this new place loading thing enabled not sure how it enabled, I never enabled it.

image

  1. Open a new Empty Baseplate Template
  2. File > “Save to File As…”
  3. Make sure to save it as .rbxl but maybe it doesn’t matter.
  4. Close Roblox after the file saved.
  5. Locate the file on your Windows Explorer
  6. Double Click the saved .rbxl file
  7. Wait until it loaded up.
  8. Press CTRL + S
  9. Observe how it tells you to upload even though we opened a local file

Expected Result

That it saves to the file that I’ve opened.

Actual Result

This thing appears, even though I am on a local file.

It won’t appear anymore if I manually go to “File > Save to File”, but the issue will repeat again if I open the file again with the same way again.

This problem should be fixed. Let us know if you still encounter this issue. Thanks!

Can’t reproduce anymore. Thanks for the fix!

Of course I can reproduce it if I disable FFlagFixStudioLocalPlaceSaveFileShortcut
