I cant figure out what causes it or when it happens, but sometimes I’ll open studio and click on a place. Instead of popping up the menu asking what I want to do to it, it decides that it’s gonna try to upload to that place. Then it crashes. Then reopening studio works normally.
But it’s happened several times to me and it’s just like “what…”
I don’t expect you guys to be able to figure out the problem (because of my lack of info), but maybe in the future someone will figure out what I can’t.
Well, we can at least try some debugging here! What version of Studio are you using? What OS are you on? Does this happen with specific places or just in general?
On Windows 8.1… It seems to be group places, but maybe others. I’m not sure which version. It’s happened before and after updates so nothing changed.
I made a breathrough in the middle of posting XD. It happens after you upload to that place. If you save to that place, then close studio. Then reopen studio and it has that issue where the thumbnail is gone and it pretends it is supposed to upload. I don’t understand why, but that’s it. It might only be for group games. I’m working on a project where I have to use group places.
So I’m not sure if you can replicate it, but it seems to be group places. Update the group game and close studio, relaunch studio and try to open the group game again. It might just be me XD
Hm… I haven’t had this happen so far. Is this a new Group place or an existing one you’re editing? Where are you opening the place from once Studio is open?
It is already existing. hhmmm… Well… it’s also part of a universe.
Here let me make a video… it might be easier for you to see.
Basically I save, then close then reopen and it happens.
Ignore the sticky notes and stuff
[strike]I just tested and it happens to any place of mine…
I chose a random one of mine and then the same thing happened xD[/strike]
Edit: I was wrong sorry, it only doesn’t load the thumbnails on other places. And only the ones without graphic thumbnails
In the video I noticed that there were some assets that Studio thinks you aren’t authorized to use. Looking up the asset Id, it’s an image belonging to someone else, and the image does not seem to actually exist. Have you tried removing this asset from your game? (This may not be the actual problem, but it will at least clear the output window a bit!)
Oh. Yeah, those were some assets that were deleted by mistake. The creator of those assets is a member of the group working on the project (before group games was a thing).
I deleted the old assets and replaced them with the new working ones. Same issue happens, but I discovered that you don’t have to close studio (and reopen) for the bug to happen. Just switch group category, then switch back and the same thing happens.
I can’t think of anything else special that I’m doing lol.
[strike]I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling[/strike].
Edit: Reinstalling didn’t fix it. Eh… I guess we should abandon this. It’s not a big deal, and obviously only affects a tiny percentage of people. Sorry to waste your time. XD
If you save the place as a non-group game, does this issue still happen?
