I recently started getting back to Roblox Studio after being off it for a few months and I noticed a major issue that I can’t seem to solve.
Whenever I open up studio my whole PC lags, it begins to happen once I load up one of my games in studio. I tried doing things like restarting my PC, updating my drivers, clearing out my desktop, but it didn’t seem to stop it.
Not sure why this is happening as before everything was fine, if anyone knows what I can do to fix this issue please let me know, thank you!
A few things to check:
1) does the lag remain constant while open or is it only when loading
2) how much memory does your computer have and how much is roblox taking and how much is everything else taking
3) do you have multiple GPUs and it’s picking an integrated one over a dedicated one (my computer has 2 GPUs and I occasionally have issues with this, though not with roblox so far)
4) if it’s a laptop, was it plugged in when you tested (often they perform better when plugged in)
(1) It remains constant while opening, I also notice that while the window is open, it lags the rest of my pc, my mouse moving becomes laggy, opening other windows doesn’t open as smooth and opens more laggy, etc. If I close the window, my pc stops lagging.
(2) I have 32gb memory, 13.2gb is in use, I assume you mean roblox studio, but it is taking 2,336.8 mb.
Hard to really troubleshoot issues like this, but here is what I suspect in order of likeliness.
plugins. Plugins are evil and should only ever be active as you are actively using them. (And check everything after). Even trusted plugins can cause issues if the author has a plugin that’s bad while they develop it (spreading virus type I encountered a while back)
reinstall studio completely. Maybe something is wrong.
lots of random system specific stuff that is hard to troubleshoot, but often would affect more than just one application.
because the more garbage they add ofc the more it will lag.
you can’t do anything about that, they just want you to buy eveything absolutely new.
off-topic: they still haven’t removed a function in their legacy chat script that detects if you are playing as a “Guest” and displays a warning that you can’t chat.
It’s odd though because it isn’t happening to everyone. I think it’s most likely something to do with my PC, might consider cleaning it up and see if that helps.
I’m also having the same issue, which started right around when this post was made. I haven’t found any fix for it yet. Could this be some kind of Roblox Studio bug?
Not sure, Roblox Studio has already updated for me and still is being laggy, I’m still trying to figure out what could be causing it but so far I haven’t found anything.
Since I assume it’s not happening to everyone as not much other people have reported it, it could be likely an issue with your PC rather than Roblox. If it was a Roblox problem it would be happening to everyone and not just us.
I’ll let you know if I do find a solution, until then we’re just gonna have to deal with it.
