Opinion on my two thumbnails? One gets a much higher CTR

So, I recently hired somebody to make a GFX game icon for my game Dragon Ball Simulator and I personally thought it looked amazing! Like I was absolutely blown away and it looked on par with top Dragon Ball game game icons. However, it gets nearly a .1 CTR when I sponsor it while my other game icon that my sister drew in about an hour got a .3 CTR??? I just dont understand so, which do you guys prefer and why do you think the CTR is so bad? I advertised both game icons 5+ times and got the same result.

I also do like the hand drawn icon, I believe that the 2nd one is better because of a couple reasons. Reason 1, it looks AMAZING! props to your sister for drawing that. Reason 2, The first one (gfx one) has too much. What I mean by this, the kamekameha has lots of detail but the character and background are quite simple. So the first thing you see is the kamekameha, To make the gfx better I would balance out the detail in the gfx one. Reason 3, I believe the hand drawn one has lots of color. And I personally think that very vibrant colors attract people. Reason 4, I think 2D art gains more attraction (I dont know if this is true) Reason 5, the gfx icon has a very simple logo, whenever I try to find a good game. I look for a great logo, if a game has a great logo I am instantly interested. Hopefully this helps!!!

I quite enjoy both, I feel that the drawing feels simple and calm. But the drawing feels off. With the torso feeling quite out of place. I like the dragon ball simulator a whole lot aswell, really looks great!

Okay thank you very much, I guess I never really realized that it was good so I was very shocked to find out people like my sisters drawing more. She joked about it being “not very good” so I just figured people wouldn’t like it, but apparently I’m wrong!

Okay, do you think it would look better with maybe text or something similar added?

The first one has dull lighting and not much detail, imo it’s pretty generic and doesn’t stand out much. The second one catches my eye more and has more vibrant colors. An 0.3% CTR is actually pretty good, what device did you advertise it on?

I advertised it only on computer. My average was .25-3 for males all ages

Personally I don’t think the first one intrigues me enough to click on it. The second possibly but it’s still unlikely because that one doesn’t exactly show anything unique about the game. The person you commissioned is good but a lot of front page games have top tier artists that have been designing for years and know their way around softwares while I can tell they’re still lacking in certain areas (for the sort of thumbnail you’re trying to get).

Okay, I gotcha. Don’t really have the funds for a much better thumbnail. I’m not exactly rich, I’ve spent 2400 on my game in total and gotten 2675 back, so I guess a profit of 275 robux. It only has 2200 visits though, so I’d say this is a great number?

Yeah that’s definitely good for profits so far and if you keep getting more you could try investing in more designs!

I feel like it’s because GFX thumbnails are overused. You used an entirely new thumbnail (your sister’s drawing) rather than the ordinary GFX, and it caught people’s eyes. Also, the drawing is very nice!

That makes sense kind of like ad overuse. Do you think its better to create multiple thumbnails similar to the game icon? Because at the moment I’m using a landscape version of my sisters drawing and I was wondering if I should have different art styles for thumbnails or keep it similar to my sisters?

I have no idea, I am an aspiring game developer who doesn’t even know how to use ReplicadedStorage and CFrames yet. But who knows? Maybe escaping the overused GFX might give profit.

Oh, well I started developing 3 weeks ago and didn’t know how to do anything so its something you can learn quickly

Noice! I wish the game works out for you
