Option to pre-set standard player graphics quality for our places

Even if they retype it, it’s still more work than if they just clicked ok or no thanks… And everything I’m concerned about revolves around the actual many users who don’t really mess with stuff, I’ve sat in my own game long enough to figure out how half the people are. Some users don’t even know how to talk, they don’t press the menu button, they don’t like to read too much, they just wander around until they figure out how to play, and then they play. When I first joined Roblox, that’s how I was, for a long time. And that’s how many people are that will be playing my game, and if I were them, I wouldn’t set my graphics speed because they told me too, I’d overlook, disregard it, ignore it, not know how to do it, all of the above. It’d be much better if I could have them just press a button to switch it to what I want. That is, if I can’t set the automatic placement graphics speed for my place- which still isn’t a bad idea.

The default is auto. This means that if your game is demanding, it’ll set it to low. Only the users that adjust their graphics settings are on anything but that, meaning they’re the ones that know how to set it to low.

We don’t need this, and messing with a user’s settings is something we should not do.

Most of us have agreed that Roblox’s auto graphics speed placement isn’t very accurate. It’s never come in handy for me in any laggy games. Whenever there’s alot of content, including in my game, it’s still on a higher graphics speed, and then if I manually place it down the lag goes away.

Make up your mind  Do you want a prompt asking them to modify their graphics level or not?

… I never said that they should only be prompted, and they go and adjust it themselves. I suggested that they would be told they should change their graphics level down, and that if they clicked ‘ok’, their graphics would be set down to what I want, and if they said ‘no thanks’, then I’d leave it alone.

Vurse, if someone doesn’t want to change their graphics level, they’re not going to change it – you can’t make them. Make a prompt yourself if it’s important – if you don’t want them to click through your prompt without reading it, then make them retype the prompt. If you don’t want to do that, then their graphics setting obviously wasn’t important to you in the first place.

I don’t think you understand. All I’m saying is that I should be able to change their graphics speed because they choose to, by clicking on GUIs. It’s alot simpler than going through the menu.

I’d only do it to be sure everyone’s seeing the same thing

Vurse, you honestly shouldn’t be worrying about the user’s graphic setting. Adding a warning GUI is all you really need. Your guy won’t suffer because you can’t force their graphics setting in some way. If they don’t want to change their setting then that is their choice. There’s nothing else you should really do. We shouldn’t have any control over their graphics setting just like we have no control over their volume and mouse sensitivity settings. If you think the auto setting isn’t too helpful then address that issue in another thread. I think assuming everybody won’t change their settings is farfetch’d. Even heavier roblox games to this day had no problem being successful.

If you have a good example of ‘Auto’ not working, please share.
If you have a good example of ‘Auto’ not working, please share.
I am totally against this thread but my laptop is a perfectly valid example. I am using an A10 processor with R6 integrated graphics, it also has a GPU but I use this for much more intensive things. Using the R6 I am yet to find a game that it is unable to handle with graphics set to level 10. Graphics set to automatic, however, I see level 6.

My computer is pretty crap now, since I’ve had it for like 7 years now. But for some games if I set it down to the level 1 the game runs perfectly smooth. I hit auto and it’s still playable/I wouldn’t bother changing it since it doesn’t affect me that much, but it starts getting a little slow. Like the framerate seems to slow down doesn’t appear to be smooth anymore.

Sorry, I meant - a place example that causes the ‘Auto’ setting to malfunction.
