I went to re-open a file and it made all my unions invisible when I opened it this time studio updated however and now this is happening even if I ungroup them
No, this has been occurring on both OSX and PC since day 1.
These items are dead also, you won’t be able to get them back. For some reason this bug is totally random.
Sorry, I didn’t step aboard the hype CSG train nor did I try it in the early stages. :uhhh:
If this is the case I will never use CSG until it is fixed thanks, the one time I try to use it and it fucks me over for 3 hours work
As far as I know, this only has a chance of happening every time you save. To make sure your work is safe, simply save an extra copy every now and then - if it errors like this, at least you don’t have to start all over.
Well I’d rather not use and make all my game using CSG then suddenly this bug happens, it’s quite an urgent bug that really should be fixed even if it is at random it is still critical and frustrating

I would hold off making a game with loads of CSG stuff in it. The file sizes are quite large with CSG models and you’re going to hit a point where uploading will timeout before you can update the game.

Can you re-upload that place in a ZIP? The forum is pretty bad at .rbxl files for some reason. If you zip it up it will be fine.
Also, your Studio upgrade was from the previous version to newest, right? Or were you offline for a few weeks and then upgraded? Not that this should matter, but I want to make sure I understand the problem as much as possible.

On Mac OSX it doesn’t force you to update studio if you wait 20 seconds it will do it for you automatically if not there is a cancel and update button. For the first time I used studio with the CSG I just pressed cancel as I was in a rush but I saved the file and came out of studio to do other things and when I went back I did update studio and tried to re-open the place and now this is happened.
And yes this was an upgrade to a newer version of studio
How old do you think that Studio was? Was it at least a few weeks old, or simply days?
EDIT:
Okay we figured it out. Remember when we delayed CSG by one week because we had a iOS issue? Well your Studio is older than that (We verified this by the Data in your level). When you updated this place, a lot of CSG related things changed. We have a system in place to prevent this from happening in the future, but technically you were still using the “Pre-release” CSG when this happened.
I know I use an old version because I have my own launcher for studio (doesn’t require a new shortcut every update, but I’ve heard this was fixed recently, and auto-deletes the terrain plugin if it exists. I never really use it, so having to re-hide it every time I update was annoying) Well, that, and I’m perfectly safe when an unexpected update comes out and I see “omg this sux!!!” on the forums (i.e. when feature x is removed), to which I then back up Studio and not update until something better comes along.

Aww well thanks Khanovich I don’t see why the updates aren’t forced on OSX but they are on windows?

Yeah, this is partially our fault as well. You shouldn’t have to keep track of what version of studio you have if everything else seems to be working, so our bad on that end. Hope you didn’t lose too much work with this.

It wasn’t too much too make me think “screw it never again” but I just got frustrated and didn’t work in studio the remainder of the day.
I would prefer if the updates were also forced on OSX to stop my impatience pressing that cancel button
