When creating group roles very fast currently, it is possible to “override” the legacy Guest role, and therefor break your entire groups permission system, (you get two ranks with roleset id “0”, which it seems there is no fallback for, and you become unable to edit any roles at all).
Expected behavior
The guest role to remain intact, and us to be able to edit all the roles in our group freely.
(TLDR, editing group ranks very fast at the moment can give you the result of having two ranks with the same roleset id (0), which then breaks your ability to edit ranks in your group).
THIS IS URGENT, IT HAS BRICKED OUR GROUP AND I ASSUME IT WILL DO THE SAME TO OTHERS.
me and the group owner were discussing some role changes for developer, so we started creating new roles.
we moved the old developer role down 2 roleset ids, made a junior developer role, but when he tried to make the new developer role, i used the groups api to send a GET request on the groups roles at the same time.
when creating the role, he had set the rolesetid to 96, and it defaulted to 0.
after, we were unable to change the roleset id, and “Guest” became a role you can view on the groups role list.
when accepting new members, they now go to the “Guest” role (which still reads back as roleid 0 in game), and you are unable to rank them up.
Hello @prpldev , your role has been fixed! We’re investigating the cause and will get back to you on what happened, but can you confirm that your community is no longer experiencing this issue?
