Pages read on the Devforum!

Hello, currently I am experiencing an issue that is affecting my time on the devforum. As specified in the title, I am reading posts but when I click on them, I am taken back to page 1. This is also preventing me from reading the rules of Roblox for the badge.

please #bug-reports

After

Impact: Permanent

  • Steps to reproduce

When I go back to the publications I have already read, either through the summary and activity or through the page, I always go back to page 1 and this can also affect all the publications I have read.

I can’t reproduce, could you provide browser information?

I think you’re referring to this Discourse category setting:

Once you’ve read a topic in #updates, it’ll bring you back to the first post the next time you visit. This is intended behavior.

About the badge you mentioned, that’ll be given by reading these guidelines:

@xChris_vC How do you access the settings you have? I couldn’t find it in my settings and I don’t really like messing around with them.

These settings are purely to visualize what admins have set for the category. The screenshot is from the admin settings on my own Discourse instance.

iirc you cannot overrule these in user settings. Do you have a use case why you want to do that?

I can see some use cases to this:

  1. Returning to where you left off: While Bookmarks exist, Not everyone utilizes bookmarks to save where they are at. This feature will help them return to where they left off

  2. Checking if the topic has new replies without scrolling down: Currently you have to scroll all the way down to go check the topic’s new replies, which can be very time consuming, while Discourse has a button to return where you left off, It would be helpful to automatically return to where you were to check

If you are in the middle of a topic (not read everything) and exit, it’ll automatically scroll to that position next time. It’ll only go back to top if you have no replies to read.

You don’t need to open the topic for that! If the title is greyed out, there’s no new activity:

Also, it’s good to note that this setting is only enabled on #updates. Other categories like discussion & help have this setting disabled.
