Pages that show clothing texture files should be locked to everyone but the original uploader

As a Roblox clothing designer, it’s currently impossible to protect your work. It’s been incredibly easy to copy each other’s clothing items since the very beginning, and in the last couple years duplicate clothing has become a huge issue plaguing the Catalog.

By simply taking the ID of a clothing item down by 1 in the URL, anyone can steal someone else’s clothing within just a few seconds, and is even done automatically by bots for some clothing groups.

Example

ROBLOX R&R&R Hoodie by 1blox - Roblox Clothing item

Summertime 2009 R&R&R Hoodie by 1box - Roblox Texture, just by changing one digit of the URL

This causes serious problems.

As a user, it is nearly impossible to find more than just a few options when it comes to clothing due to the hundreds of copies of just one piece of clothing. And on many occasions, an independent designer gets completely covered up by bots, ruining their chances of exposure or profit.

My suggestion for a starting point on ending this problem is to lock texture pages like that to everyone but the original creator. Or better yet, a “copylock” feature like that of games that would toggle this on or off, in case some users would like to allow people to study and re-purpose the texture or use it as an example for a tutorial.

This wouldn’t get rid of all the existing clones, but if this issue is addressed, it would halt the reproduction of new copies to allow time to figure out a solution for weeding out the existing ones, or to just manually remove them over time.
