Parkour Tag Gamemode [Need Feedback]

I’ve made a tag system gamemode for my parkour engine, below is a video showcasing it.

Any feedback is welcome, need new ideas to add.

Change Logs:

  • Added timer to display how long you were the tagger for
  • Winner is determined based on how long you were the tagger for [least amount of time = winner]
  • Lobby size is 4 players
  • Added Wins and Losses leaderstats [leaderstats do save]

This gamemode is inspired by the parkour game “Rooftops & Alleys”

It looks pretty cool but I have a question, why is does it work only up to 4 players? why not more?

It works with more than 4 players, its just the lobby size is 4 players.

it looks good but could we see more about the parkour mechanism and not just the tagging? Also it would be nice to add a short invincibility (even 1 second is fine) when you tagged so that you don’t get tagged directly back

You can test it out here, just create a match and queue up.

You have to have at least 2 players to play tag, otherwise its just gonna wait for a player to join.

I also have other questions : let’s say a player join mid-match, it wouldn’t be fair for them to win as they will have less time being the tag, but if they join 3 seconds after the match, it wouldn’t be fair to exclude them. So you should make that after a certain time of the match starting, players are excluded

This is certainly an interesting idea! I bet a lot of people would love this, since it’s such a well-known and familiar game in real life.

I have a couple of questions about development for you:

  • What style of maps will there be, and will there be the usual voting system?
  • Will there be rewards for achievements such as individual tags or time being ‘not it’?

So far this looks great. I hope it becomes popular!

Yeah, Ill def look into it. I havent done much testing so theres bound to be unfairness and testing a game by yourself is not such a good idea because I would need more peoples input and help finding glitches.

Right now everyone wins but the person with the most tagger time loses. The person with the less amount of tagger time is technically the actual winner as their name is displayed but I dont know at the moment on how to determine an actual winner unless the person with the less tagger time is the only one that gains a win.

I would need more input, maybe I can do an elimination system or something like that, idk.

Any ideas would be helpful!

Im still looking into it, maybe certain players will unlock tags at a certain amount of wins, the game does have healing and adrenaline ability already, maybe ill only make it so they’re available at a certain amount of wins.

If I could build maps or afford a builder I would most definitely have different maps. The tag gamemode is an update on my parkour game.

You basically start a party and queue up for a match. If I add more maps ill make it so the host can pick a map to play on. Right now, when the match ends, you just get teleported back to the parkour game.

Two players are required for the match to start, there definitely is bugs so just keep that in mind.

I would definitely learn the basics of the parkour because thats what the tag mode was designed for. The parkour game came first and I just made the tag mode as something to do if you have nothing to do with a friend.

i have a question : will this be an engine (like free for players to use) or a game? just so i can approach suggestions with different ideas.

also if it’s a game here’s an idea : a coin system that just gives you coin everytime you : win, tag someone, do a cool parkour trick (whatever you want) etc which will allow the abilities you guys were talking about earlier to be bought or skins etc

its not a full fledged game, hence why its called an engine.

It will not be open sourced considering the code is pretty terrible.
