Pasting Model from one instance of Studio to another

Pasting a model from one instance of Studio to another only works if I have Workspace selected in the explorer view of the target Studio instance.

Didn’t use to work this way and is annoying.

Also the camera should zoom to extents on the model I just pasted in so I don’t have to hunt for it.

Also the model should be pasted somewhere reasonable, not just carrying over the XYZ position from the source instance.

Recently I discovered there’s an F Hotkey for “Focus”.

I’ve had several times where I’ve copied over something which is position sensitive, sometimes parts of an entire map, from one studio instance to another. Changing this would mess that up a bunch, especially since editing positions in studio in a precise way is a pain in the butt.

As for the other things, I agree.

Drag and drop copy paste from one studio instance to another studio instance please.

This sounds like an edge case. What exactly were you doing that you wanted the locations to be the same between level files?

It appears that pasting models in will zoom to extents if said extents are not currently visible. This would prevent zooming in on models that are already visible. Is this not wanted behavior?

Pasting a model into Studio at its coordinates is the same behavior as pasting normally in Studio. Copied items are pasted into the same locations, then safemoved up.

Ctrl+V not pasting them into the Workspace has been added as a bug on our bug list.

Whenever I’ve wanted to edit a model without moving it and without the rest of the clutter in the workspace disturbing me, I’ve just opened a new studio instance and worked on it there. Happens more often than you’d think. Edge case, maybe, but having my model positioned automatically for me is not something I want.

This is not what I am seeing. Are you pasting from one window to another or within the same instance of Studio?

Maybe this is the source of the confusion. CTRL + V is paste.

“Paste Into” on Workspace works ok, but the camera does not zoom to extents.

The behavior works fine for me… only if I use the context menu and click the paste button.

Yeah this is the bug.

It used to be that CTRL+V would work without having anything specific selected.

I don’t have anything selected though, I can right click on the void and it works fine.
