Percentage or Fraction?

So, in my game you have to help a total of 15 people before you can complete it, so this got me thinking… since I’m trying to maximize playtime (also player engagment), would it psychologically be better to have the player see a percentage rather then a fraction in this case, because I feel like if you see 0% rather then 0/15 the ladder feels more daunting and it could cost me a player leaving the game before it even starts, thoughts?

I’m no game design expert, but I’d imagine that most players would have an easier time understanding the fraction. Seeing a percentage may lead to struggle with figuring out how many more players they have to help, especially if they’re younger.

I think the fraction is more intuitive in this case. When you have huge numbers, like 16215/32501 for example, a percentage is a lot easier to understand your progress. You could also have something like a progress bar which shows visually how much progress you’ve made, while the fraction tells you what you actually need to do in numbers.
