Permanently Banned for Disruptive Audio

Hello all,

As a developer for the platform, I have invested a lot of money into a new game I’m making. Recently I have started using a license with epidemic sounds, and I took to using their zombie death sound affects.

I uploaded them in bulk onto the platform and continued my testing, trying to fine tune how the sounds feel in game, only to be kicked out of studio and permanently banned for disruptive audio. What exactly does this mean and why in the world is this an instant permanent ban?

I have tried appealing and it’s all just being immediately declined, now I have to wait for roblox support which I imagine might take days which severely cuts into the deadlines for goals I had

Wow, that really does suck. It’s extremely frustrating getting an account falsely deleted but roblox support doesn’t do anything. I’ve had this happen to me because in a game i made years ago i put an admin panel into the game and i guess it had something in it because i got banned for it. I wish you luck on getting your account back.

Did you ever get your account back?

I just think it’s strange how I got instantly deleted without a warning. My account has been a thing for over 10 years, I have spent a lot of money on the account itself, through buying robux and my premium membership which I have had for ages, and yet I still get instantly deleted. No warning, not even like a 3 day or a 7 day ban.

I just hope with all the money I have spent on this game and all the time I put into developing, they actually consider my case and at least remove the perm.

The game is owned by a group, and all the assets are safe but… it’d be incredibly draining to lose an account I grew up on. I wouldn’t quit development or anything like that… but it’d be sad

Sadly i didn’t get mine back, i lost my group it had like 1.5k members and some robux in it. And yeah it does suck losing an account that has memories on it, i guess just comment under as many related posts as possible, appeal the ban until something happens, and pray roblox does something for once.

That honestly does sound depressing.

I would be able to move on, well I’d have to. My builder I commissioned I paid $600 and the ui guy is another $300, if I let a termination stop me I’d be deep in the red. I have to keep working no matter what really.

I have such a big vision for this game that I want and I’ve spent days writing out how I want the story to be. It’s so close to the alpha wherein I can have friends test it that I just refuse to give up.

I’ll appeal, if that doesn’t work I saw a post where I guess I can call some sort of hotline.

This isn’t my first time losing an account, but this was by far the most valuable one for me so that does really suck.

I think another huge thing is how worried I am about this affecting my devex capabilities.

If it cuts into that I might just be screwed…

disruptive audios result in either a warning (which happens usually) or permanent bans (which is very unlikely).

if you already appealed twice to the bots through Violations & Appeals and both appeals got declined then your chances of getting it back are quite low, because most guys in roblox support aren’t that helpful honestly. you could’ve used better methods to convince the bots to reopen it, but what happened happened.

you still have three options.

the first option is to try to convince the guys in roblox support to actually open your account. explain the whole story briefly, and be honest, formal and respectful.

try to make them sympathize with your case with phrases like “I’ve literally spent years on my account playing and developing, and I had so much on it. I can’t lose it because of an audio I uploaded”.

if your appeal got declined by one of the guys, don’t send in another one right away. Wait a day or two then send in another one with a new differently formed email and new information (if possible). you may eventually get your account back because not all appeals are reviewed by the same employee. one of them may sympathize with your problem and unban you. and most bans that were posted on reddit got their appeals accepted after several tries. so just keep trying, you may eventually get it back.

the second option (works best if you’re well-known on social media) is to post your case on social media (especially Twitter and YouTube). this will ruin their reputation and they’ll have to thoroughly check your case.

the third option (doesn’t usually work but it’s worth a try) is to contact one of the guys in @DevRelationsTeam on the devforum and ask them for help.

don’t tell them blatantly to unban your account, but just tell them what you should do in such a situation.

most of them will ignore you, but some may reply and help you.

wish you the best with this situation! it really sucks

It’s incredibly frustrating to be struck down as if I wasn’t a loyal customer on top of a developer for the past several years.

All the money I’ve spent just on a platform I genuinely love for me to make one mistake and everything is lost.

I don’t have a history of being moderated in general… But I fear because I used the bulk upload system built into studio, half the audios i uploaded got flagged and it resulted in over 5 warnings in under 3 minutes, which I assume elevated me from a 1 day, to a 3 day, to a 5, then a 7 and then a perm.

I have already contacted support through an email and am awaiting a response.

I suspect that the reason it violated any sort of rules is because of the loudness of it.

I take complete ownership over the fact that I failed to triple check how loud they were, as I previewed them on the site I got them off of, and my chrome volume is set to like 5% my total system volume. Because of this I didn’t get a true grasp for how loud the audios actually were when I tried uploading them, leading to almost all of them getting flagged.

I have clearly stated this in the email, taken full accountability for my failure to ensure safe uploads on the platform, and have requested that just my account be reinstated.

Whether or not it works, I don’t know. It really is my own fault for not being more careful. Either way, it’s frustrating to me. I was working on enhancing the feel for zombies, adding death sounds. These are in no way explicit and very clearly resemble that of a monster. The only issue I can see upon my own investigation is how loud they really were.

I just hope my lack of history being moderated, and my honest approach in which I admit my oversight, is enough. If not I guess I’ll try to message someone on developer relations, but at that point I’ll throw in the towel

It is. That’s what they call ‘disruptive audios’. Extremely loud and/or disturbing audios.

And also, the permanent ban isn’t the result of your previous bans. It’s not how it works.

There was a verified developer called @SooGloez. He claimed that he hadn’t been ever banned or warned in the platform. One day he uploaded an audio saying ‘Hey kids I got candies’, then he got terminated for it, and all his games were taken down.

No matter how loyal you are, they’ll still apply their strict rules on you.

It’s not really your fault. You should’ve only been warned. This doesn’t deserve a permanent ban because you haven’t even published or used them in your game, so it hasn’t disrupted anyone, but it’s just how it is.

By adding disruptive sound effects? It doesn’t enhance the feel for zombies, it just annoys the players.

That is a good point actually, the game it’s used in is private, and it never hit the market place

No the point is that it isn’t supposed to be. The audios themselves are just regular zombie groans and growls, I planned to use them when a zombie died so it wasn’t just them falling over. It’s supposed to be normal and whatnot, honestly I have no idea why the provider for sfx and music I use had those audios so loud but I can’t really fault them for my oversight

I think this is exactly what happened here. But a permanent ban with no prior moderation history, zero room for context, on a long-time user/developer, and over some ‘disruptive’ audio? That’s not just ridiculous, it’s pure insanity.

I’ve never found support to be helpful when it comes to false account terminations. Your best bet is probably to try Developer Relations through either here or Twitter/X (@RobloxDevRel).

Understood, thank you.

I’ll wait for a reply to my appeal via email before reaching out to anyone through dev relations. I just don’t know how willing they would be to help someone not that well known. Hopefully I don’t even need to go that far though, and my appeal through support goes through without a hitch.

I imagine if they looked at the hours i’ve spent on studio the past 2 months working on the game I’ve been making they’d think I’m telling the truth.

Yet again, if I’ve heard anything it’s the lack of helpfulness from support so hoping for that might be a long shot. We’ll see how it goes I guess…

Bring justice to this fellow developer! He was just adding zombie sounds to his game!!!

Lol thanks, still nothing on the appeal via email. If anything I’m expecting it be shot down but it’s still pretty anxiety-inducing. Hopefully I get a response sometime soon so I can move on and contact dev relations

@DeVague_RBLX @Atomic_Dev @VexByx @DevHelloBack

Thank you guys, but I am actually really happy to say that I didn’t need to contact developer relations at all!

I got unbanned just now and all consequence has been removed from my account.

In addition, the audios themselves actually weren’t against ToS? They are being reinstated as well which will take several days… Interestingly enough?

I’ll definitely be more careful when uploading audios from now on but I am very happy for the good news.

Thank you all

Glad to hear that!

I am having a similar issue with a game I made. I contacted appeals, with no luck, but how do I get a real person to review my case?

Thanks so much,
Bodeyo3b

Have you created a ticket?

That’s what I did and then I got a reply via email about 2 days later. If that doesn’t work I don’t know because the ticket system is how a human looks at it. I guess you could try the solutions mentioned above but I didn’t need to try them so I don’t know how well that works

I hope this helps
