Back offline again - Some game breaking bugs emerged
Online Again! Still a couple of bugs, not too gamebreaking tho…
The chat box bug has been fixed… we seem to have some problems with double counting collectables tho… urgh
Fantastic!
I just got done playing the game for a bit and it was quite enjoyable and such a pleasing theme and environment to look at. I can’t wait to see more be put into this game and I would bet this game would and could bring in millions of people to play it.
The biggest concern is optimization, a word any developer hates. The game is very unoptimized, I have a high-mid tier PC and I could only run it decently on the lowest graphic quality.
That’s the only problem I ran across when it came to playing this is the optimization. A fix I can think of is spreading the levels out among separate places and teleport the player to those places once ready.
For now, I congratulate you on your hard work on such a big project and in my opinion it’s too good to even be called a Roblox game, keep it up!
I’ve already worked in a huge fix, probably sped everything up by 30%, by making a custom collision controller!!
As for graphics thats kinda where its meant to be, My computer is about 6 years old was mid range when i bought it. I have tried to design the game based upon that being the lowest graphics setting.
… just out of interest what specs is your pc?
mine is an AMD A6-6400k 3900MHZ with 16GB RAM
It would be very useful for me to know. Thank you for your feedback.
I just entered the game, its really high detail.
I couldnt play it because it was 1 fps on the lowest graphics, yup.
Needs some optimization and an low-end device mode.
I have a ATI Radeon 4850 HD.
I dont understand how that is possible, had roblox finished downloading assets?
I dont know, the game took 40 seconds to load in, so it should have finished downloading the assets right?
Im going to try agian, but instead wait 5 minutes.
Not necessarily…
Was your computer running slow or was it just roblox? are you running anything like a fps unlocker?
No, im not using an FPS Unlocker because i dont know about one for macOS.
Hmm very weird… Gonna have to put this on the back shelf for a bit… but i’m gonna have to solve this…somehow…Let me know if it works better the second time - i think it does try to download 800mb… which i guess i gotta get down… I thought it didnt cache any data, so it should take the same time to download each startup… but now im v confused… anyways…Thanks for helping with testing
I can definitely see this game on the front page.
Hey Guys! Lots more updates! I’ve managed to increase performance and reduce loading times massively!!!
Loading times have literally been cut in half!
I did this by creating a custom collision controller, and discovering how useful enabling content streaming can be with performance issues. + Rewriting several sub-systems to deal with the changes.
So we have a new preloader, some useful chunkloading courtesy of roblox, as well as several other bug fixes, like the sick pirate cat not colliding properly, and the quest flags not saving.
Lots more updates coming soon…
I also realized i need to create a tutorial as my games goals and expectations seems to be very diverse for roblox obby games. So I need to add a simple introduction to the mechanics, of puzzle solving, jumping, running, double jumping and interacting with NPC’s, as well as exploration and showing how my obby works in a partially non-linear way… So some interesting problems to deal with…
Hope you guys are doing good and your projects are going well!
Yet more performance updates, this time mostly focusing on my super sloppy building… I never realized how bad i was, pointless decals, textures on hidden sides, huge textures - (5mb!!! how lazy was i that day) Huge numbers of pointless models hidden under the map… I think i’ve doubled the framerate just by fixing all my mess.
Things to remember, Texture instances are quite CPU intensive…Use them sparingly
Texture instances and decals with transparency are super CPU intensive…You are allowed like 30 in any given chunkloaded area…
I really like it. You did an awesome job mate!
I just started to play, and I wanted to say right off the bat that the world design is great, it is front-page quality. I love every single detail, especially those posters of mouse pies and fish giveaways. The floating town feels very alive with the cats that live in it, and I’m excited to see more of the map. The hard work you put into creating this world definitely paid off.
I also think the updates you made to optimize the game paid off as well, I didn’t experience any lag. But, I felt like my character was a little slow. I think the walk speed should be a little more quicker so that I can explore the map quicker.
As for the dialogues in the first-person view, the dialogue box is way off to the corners of the screen. I feel that the dialogue box itself is too small, and I don’t like how it cuts off every three words. Sticking it to the bottom maybe will help the dialogue flow better. (Also, what’re all their names? There is soo much potential on the different cat-puns you can use lol) Last thing, I think you can make the map pop more with clearer lighting and sun rays.
I’m looking forward to the story that you’ll build on top of this world, and I’ll be exploring the rest of the map soon!
Great Feedback thanks for that I’m taking a little bit of a break from the project at the moment… Experimenting making some smaller games atm Duelling Lazers - Roblox
Have added you suggestion to the big old bug fix list
This game is looking incredible! I think you did a wonderful job on this! Keep up the great work!
