Piston engine, clutch, two-speed gearbox and differential

I’ve been working with physics a lot the past week and a half, and today I made this:

It doesn’t work perfectly, and has some issues, but I thought I’d share it anyways in case anyone wants to play around with it.

(Open it in Studio, I highly doubt it will work online). Just goes to show what our new physics engine is capable of.

As an engineering student, this makes me unreasonably giddy.
:woohoo:

I can’t wait to make pistons in a car engine from a V12 or a huge ass geared clock :swag:

Sidenote: Will geared parts ever be able to just be inserted?

Aw yeah that’s cool. I can’t wait for the day that somebody can build an actual car with an actual engine and drivetrain system that works well.

Not only that, but gas/liquid simulation and actually flowing fuel and exhaust gases :open_mouth:

nice! i did some similar stuff a while back

i did a 3 and 5 speed gearbox, i think the 1st and 5th gear are messed up though because the gears are squares in a tessellation to save parts. my motors don’t really work anymore because the explosion image changed from a subtle circular bang to a massive fiery explosion. my latest engines using thrusts can push about 2200 rpms though. i was thinking about doing a legit 5 speed gearbox with dog clutches and a shift lever etc, but the roblox character is essentially useless at manipulating controls. really cool. we should work together on something.

We could always “Simulate” the explosions that push the pistons. So basically have a small particle effect for show, and just have a body force of a certain amount to push it.

Had so much fun until the entire assembly fell apart.

How did you get the parts to stay floating without them being anchored and still able to turn?

Wow that is very cool! It’s almost like a manual transmission!

Imma check it out in studio! Good job for that work

Talk about a necropost! Lol. 7 Years!
