Awesome! Hope this is done to other relevantly slow parts as well.
Play Testing performance is a different thing but something we’re also spending a lot of time improving.
Not sure if this is related to the latest update, but every time I try to open Roblox Studio it starts installing, and then asks this:
I’m guessing this is related to installing WebView2 which we use for the login UI.
Is there a plan to increase or change the publish timeout limit?
I haven’t tested it lately but historically the timed publish limit is unfair to Dev’s with slow internets (their effective place size limit that they can upload in a given time is smaller).
This would be more fair if it was a size based limit. If a Dev wants to wait 30 minutes to upload a 20MB place file, let them do it.
Last I checked the timeout was around 2 minutes.
Very helpful feature, loads of drawbacks of the old studio UI. I’m glad they are being worked out.
The docking issues are the worst and I don’t think they’ve been fixed in either versions which is annoying, but manageable!
Nice work, roblox engineers!
I’m still curious why Studio uses WebView now to login, and why the original login UI was removed.
That decision was a little bit before my time but my understanding is that one of the driving factors was a big push at improving security platform wide. The current login flow for Studio has some rough edges we look forward to smoothing over.
Can we also get a fix for auto-save?
When a autosave occurs it like “refreshes” studio meaning if I’m editing an instance and it auto saves I’ll continue typing and it will end up deleting an instance, reverting changes and more.
It’s overall annoying and should be fixed, if there’s an option to disable it as well where?
yes!!! this is an issue i’ve been having for a while.
→ Press F12 to rename an instance
→ Keep typing anything then press backspace to clear it until it autosaves
→ Accidentally delete the instance
also, yes, you can disable auto-saves.
thank you for refining all the core elements of studio, this will really help with working as I have just a less of a waittime to get into places now
Really nice to see this being worked on to help improve UX of developers. Can’t wait to see these optimisation being implemented!
This is great, it was always a pain to test sometimes because of how my pc is on the lower-end.
Thanks roblox
Good day, will the issue with closing place will be adressed?
The plugins have no way of detecting when you close the studio and they cannot make a cleanup.
That can mess some things up and it makes harder for the plugin developers to prevent this
Finally it’s being fixed, looking forward to it.
I have a map with nearly 300,000 parts that used to take 15 minutes to publish.
Now it only takes about 10 seconds.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Ever since the last studio update I’ve been experiencing a performance decrease when switching windows during a local server play test, I’m not sure if it’s directly related to this but I’m getting the launch UI for it.
Here’s a video
I just opened some places, did not expect them to load so fast, can’t even press the cancel button on smaller places now, you could add a cancel button which shows only when the game hasn’t fully loaded yet:
(if it’s possible)
kinda had a goofy bug where the first time i opened it after it getting updating with this feature it just kinda
froze
for a few days?? i couldnt close it either
