Placing thin parts on top of part with texture objects in it causes flickering

The pages are placed on top of the blue floor (they’re not slightly inside of the floor at all) and the floor has textures. This weird shading issue also occurs in-game as well, making it frustrating as I can’t fix it without placing the pages noticeably higher in the air.

Any help appreciated, thank you.

Hello, do you know if there’s any chance you guys plan on looking to address the issues with textures? This has a been problem for years, and it sucks because I’m forced to use textured flooring instead of parts or meshes for the sake of performance, but textures continue to keep covering up parts on top of it.

Hi @C_Sharper, are you still running into this issue? If so, could you provide a repro placefile so we can investigate this?

Unfortunately, this isn’t a bug: Decals / Textures are actually separate geometry, not part of the geometry they’re placed onto, so they can have z-fighting issues with other stuff very close to the surface they’re on.

The solution if you don’t want these kind of issues (which to be fair, was not available at the time this was first posted) is to make the pattern into a MaterialVariant or SurfaceAppearance to be directly applied to the object instead of a Decal / Texture.
