Player count option when starting a Local Server does not work sometimes

Today a bug started happening where when starting the Local Server test the player count option would be ignored. Instead it would always create only one player, which is also the option which appears to be selected by default in the test windows (but not in the main edit-mode window where I chose something different).

Also, I think sometimes attempting to add new by players via the test windows (by clicking the start option with the default one player option selected) would create more than one player (I think it created the number of players which were originally chosen when the local server was originally being created from the main edit-mode window).

I think this bug happens per studio session. So you can reset it by restarting. When it happens, it will keep happening consistently for a while, but randomly might go back to working again later. That just happened to me (the bug randomly fixing itself and studio correctly trying to create the right number of windows / players), except I started getting stuck on the login screen in the new windows and so was unable to run local servers at all (Edit: Studio had just logged me out entirely for some reason, so I had to login again upon restarting).

Hi @EmeraldSlash,

Do you have some solid repro on the issue?

Thanks!

Just starting noticing this myself, here’s a video of me reproducing the issue: https://youtu.be/WxUyXmwANsQ

1. Background

1.1. Summary

  • Wasn’t occurring for me until today but I would note it’s been at least a few weeks since I’d needed to use this feature
  • Only occurs when None is applied instead of Local Server; seems to have unintended consequences when trying to start more players from within the local server. I had never changed this myself though

1.2. Details

Seems to be dependent on the None/Local Server flag:

  • If None is selected (as seen in the video):

Note: might be difficult to see in the video due to stretching, but I had initially selected 2 players to connect when starting the local server but only one connected; and when trying to connect 1 player in the local server - as selected within the window - it instead connected two as originally selected within Studio

    • Local server is spun up and only a single player is connected; the option selected in Studio is ignored
    • If you attempt to add more players from within the local server it will spawn the number as selected within Studio, ignoring the number selected within the local server.
  • If Local Server is selected:

    • Local server is spun up and the number of selected players are connected as normal
    • Able to start the appropriate number of players as selected from within the local server

Wondering if the default for that has changed because I don’t think I’ve ever had reason to touch that dropdown component before today’s issue? I had only changed it afterwards in a last-ditch attempt to get the old behaviour back.
