This has started happening only recently at a completely random time of the day when the game was not updated recently (was updated 6 hours prior to the issue appearance)
And we saw a massive spike of computer visits today oddly and huge amount of crash rate of computers:
The root cause of this was an inadvertent change that increased the timeout before players were removed from a server when their network connection was lost. As a result, there was an increase in attempts to join experiences that failed because the server believed the player was still present using a previous connection. We reverted the change and saw the rate of failures decrease sharply.
Unfortunately there is nothing developers can do on their end to mitigate an issue like this specifically. However, this report was extremely helpful for us to both confirm the existence of the issue and understand the impact on users, so we would definitely encourage you to report again if you see issues like this in the future.
Thank you for the help, apparently we checked the usersids of people who were joining and were being kicked like that, all seem to be having the same badges from a dead game. Is it possible that it was a planned bot attack on our game?
I apologize, I was incorrect before. It seems that the impact on your experience occurred around the same time as the issue I described earlier, but the majority of the impact on your metrics, as well as a majority of the instant kicks, were in fact actually from a bot attack.
Our security and anti-bot teams have reviewed this attack and determined there is a possibility botters may target your experience again, leading to the same impact. They will continue their investigation to determine if there is anything you can do from your end.
Oh that sounds bad. Could we please get a notification email from the team earlier before the attack if possible. Let us know if there is anything that we can do to prevent it
