Players points keep/scrap?

We’re gonna talk about (PLAYER POINTS) yeah nobody really uses those…

We still have them in our system and yet some people don’t even notice them anymore.
We should try to figure out a way we can bring player points into the system
in a different way than we were trying or we could just remove it completely.
It’s just a bother to have something that isn’t doing us any good.
Anyone got any suggestions or comments please feel free to do so.

(This isn’t something that is needed right away just a thing to think about)

They don’t even work properly anymore.

I can’t see my position on the list like I used to. Now the only way to find myself is to either be in the top 10 or to scroll down until I find myself, which in games like Phantom Forces where my rank is like 400 sucks.

That’s what I mean it’s kind of a waste to keep them if we’re not going to use them for anything.

Yeah. I wanna add them to my game but I’m afraid that an exploiter will come in and tell the server he deserves 27 million points and then I can’t undo it because he needs to be in-game for me to reward points.

(Although maybe you can undo it in studio by setting userId, but I’m unsure)

so many possibilities with Player Points y’know?

The endpoint actually still exists for finding your rank, ROBLOX+ uses this to re-add the button:

It doesn’t work as well for ranks in the tens or hundreds of thousands though.

They’re not really (used) is what we’re saying.

We’re explaining why.

If they were supported like they used to be we’d seem them used more often.

I know, but they’re not particularly useful outside of competitive games. I don’t know if that’s truly a bad thing, I like the idea of leaderboards where applicable.

I do suggest removing the leaderboards tab on games that don’t use player points though.

@ScriptOn I’m pretty sure the storage implementation would need to be worked on before we start seeing more support for them. It’s pretty clear that the farther down you are in the leaderboard, the longer it takes to get a result back (likely why the my rank feature was removed in the first place).

I think it would be really cool if we could “set” the leaderboards as devs - so have something similar to ordered datastore but is actually displayed on the webpage in the leaderboard section!
That way, we can use whatever leaderboard/stat we want displayed on the actual game page!

I thought you could award playerpoints even when a player wasn’t there, it’s by UserId.

Ohhh. That gives me a little more faith.

I believe that PP can be used in other ways than just tracking in competitive games. I, for example, use them as a sort of currency (because you can easily deduct PP from players) for a “rewards system” and it worked out pretty well. (I must admit that you earn PP per kill/objective/win/…). You could use datastores for it but PP work a bit better for some purposes (atleast for what I had in mind).

I’m currently using them as my game’s currency (because I’m lazy), so removing them would be disastrous for me :S

I use them to create leaderboard on roblox website.
Then I use that leaderboard to choose the top 3 players to show in my intro of the game.

It’s very useful to me.

Happy cake day @PlaceRebuilder!
You all seem to understand what I mean though it seems like no one really uses them as much though, we need to have a new way to get them back into being a part of ROBLOX if we have them in our system, it is better to have them being more resourceful than being that one guy who came for a party but doesn’t bring anything whenever everyone else does.

They wouldn’t be so bad if the web team didn’t blatantly ignore the many bugs with them.

Daily, Weekly, and Monthly are all three 100% broken and stop updating. You can no longer find your own rank without a third party plugin.

Just my 2c. Not really much of a point in using them considering they don’t work. I personally love the idea, and would use them much more if they were less broken and perhaps had more features?
