Please put favorited games back on the home page on mobile for developers. It's hard to monitor my games

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to find and monitor my own games. Respectfully, it’s gotten worse and worse. Today I couldn’t even find my favorites on Roblox.com. I know Roblox has 45 million users and only a few million developers, but when I favorite something as a developer, I want to see that stuff. I care deeply about how my stuff is doing. I favorite games so I can see the status of my stuff. There is no replacement for this.

Tonight I couldn’t even find my favorites on mobile. This honestly has gotten really annoying. It’s gotten harder and harder to monitor my fleet of games, and to find games and to even play test a new game. I’m sure the developers making the home page don’t realize this is an important usecase, so this forum post is here to respectfully ask that we find some resolution.

Unfortunately, my core workflow involves finding my favorites to navigate to the game that I’m working on. This includes:

  1. Advertising games
  2. Checking game stats
  3. Configuring a game’s configuration, updates, et cetera.
  4. Play testing a game
  5. Getting game ids to Roblox teams
  6. Monitoring the status of my games.

I know that maybe eventually the Roblox creator dashboard is suppose to fix this, but there is quite literally no easy way right now to see all concurrent player counts for your games right now, and quite frankly this view is useless.

Create dashboard is not a replacement for favorites right now

Please don’t make me scroll for this long. I just want to see how my games are doing, and maybe configure one.

Imagine scrolling all the way to the bottom to get critical information, such as how many players are on your games. Notably the favorites bar doesn’t even contain all the games I want to track, this is the full list. It’s 12 games. I don’t think this is especially normal, but it’s not abnormal either. You’ll find me favoriting and unfavoriting games all the time.

It’d be extra awesome if I could pin even more games to the top of the page.

You can’t even find the games on mobile.

Where did my favorites go?

Honestly, I can’t really blame the website team at all. This is not an obvious workflow hurt. But I do want to point out fixing this issue has significant impact for Roblox developers who use the home page. For many developers going to Roblox.com lets you easily see the status of your games, just as it might mean having a fun time. Additionally, if I need to test a game on mobile I used to be able to favorite it, or even play it, and then have it show up. This is no longer the case.

I can’t be the only developer who uses the favorites and concurrent count as a KPI, or habitually visit Roblox.com just to check the status of my games. I suspect moving favorites down to the very bottom has a very marginal impact on engagement for Roblox, but it actually has a significant amount of impact on me. There’s no good replacement and I really don’t want to build my own dashboard.

I didn’t even know my paintball game was doing well, it has around 75 concurrent players right now. This sort of information on a day-to-day basis really dictates what I and my team work on. Hiding this information is actually really annoying. (Do you know how hard it is to find the inventory page from the mobile app? It’s like 5-6 clicks and it costs me 30 seconds every time I want to test something).

Note: I don’t actually care about the favorites page. I care about having control about which games I can easily find on Roblox.com. Usually games I’m developing. A dashboard would work too, but please don’t make me wait 2-3 months until a dashboard shows up. Please just move the favorites up to like, slot #5 or something like it was for the last year.

The biggest issue is this is actively disrupting my habit of checking Roblox.com for the status of my games. This is making it hard to determine when my games have broken.

I would really appreciate a temporary fix. At least please render favorites on mobile.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience by helping a core loop appear of monitoring my games. I don’t want to have to go on PC to figure out how many players each of my games has.

tl;dr: Favorites are part of my core development loop. Please find a replacement for finding my own games or stop breaking this loop for developers as engagement gets improved on the home page.

I feel like they should just let us have the entire developer’s dashboard within Roblox Studio. It would make sense that the application we design our games in, is also our command center. One place, full control, all the creative AND business tools that Roblox has to offer, in one, simple place. (And as a bonus it might be ported since the whole shindig would be website API anyway oooooo)

I’ve always wondered what the roblox team was thinking when they made this change. Weren’t favorites supposed to be like bookmarking your favorite games?

Don’t even get me started on how nearly impossible it is to configure your games while on mobile. :astonished:

It’s like, dang… Why do I have to scroll down past all the recommended playlists of games to see the favorites tier??? Shouldn’t it be one of the first accessible playlists of games??? It’s literally categorized like this, in order:

Continue, Friend Activity, Recommended For You, Real World Roleplay, Role-playing, Vehicle Simulation, Racing, Fighting & Battle, Simulator, Social Hangout, Simulation, Tycoon, Real World Simulation, Survival, Action, Adventure & Exploration,

AND THEN, Favorites. This is clearly devoting the prevolent playlists to monetization and not personal preference. And it must change.

Yes please! As a developer I use favorites the exact same way. Shuffling categories for discoverability isn’t what I’m looking for. The home page is the ideal place for me because I can see my friends, who are also developers, and which of them are online and what they’re working on right now. Scrolling around the website or visiting other pages is an everyday hassle.

The mobile app is very hard to use as a developer.

Typically when developing a new game, if I want to test it on mobile, I have to favorite it as there’s no other way to find it. Recently Played also used to work, but doesn’t show up for new games.

I have the same use case and the same problems, which we’ve been repeating and begging about for the last year+.

Data driven decisions are often blunt and stupid and have no nuance or common sense, and this problem really feels like a symptom of making data driven decisions based off population with no regard for population splits.

Roblox contains three primary groups of users that every analytics based decision should be made with regards to: players (vast majority), developers, and developers with >100 concurrent players (or some DAU). Stop cutting us out of the equation. Long term plans are not good enough for us dealing with these issues in the Now.

Mobile users can’t develop games on roblox, so it would be a stretch to add features that only apply to developers on mobile.

This has to be bait, I’m not falling for it

Hey!

I can definitely see there’s a strong use case here - being able to see the success of your content is starting to live more and more in Creator Dashboard, so I’m flagging to the team that we should make sure we think about this use case as we continue forwards. Keep a look out!

Thanks for raising this point, really appreciate it.

Yup! I wanted to originally just ask for the favorites back, but I realized I actually really just wanted a dashboard.

Notably I need the dashboard to be mobile friendly!

I also want to note that while we’re waiting for a better dashboard or something else, I would really really really appreciate getting my favorites panel back near the top, even if it’s just for developers who have DevExed.

The issue is it’s very very hard to navigate to my existing games right now, to do configuration or check status on the fly.

Remind me how to use roblox studio on a phone?

As both a player and a developer, it’s really frustrating that I have to use a third party extension to bring the favorites back to the top of my home page. I didn’t favorite those games for no reason or because I just liked the game, I favorited them because I intend on going back to them in some way. Dev-wise, I can echo the statements everyone else has made here. We have to keep tabs on plenty of games at once.

What’s even more baffling IMO is the fact that someone who might favorite a game to play it later cannot easily find it on their homepage. They have to go though random menus or scroll for ages (which you can’t even do on mobile). Is that not the main and overwhelming reason favorites exist? So players can save games they especially like for later?

Thank you, but please see above. We cannot sit around and wait for a solution to appear months or years from now when the previous setup was working perfectly fine for us.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the 3rd party extension? Can you DM me or post it here?

RoGold; it’s a bit clunky, but it embeds your favorites on the home page. You can click Places from there
