Polar Express Progress

Here is progress of an upcoming event, The Polar Express. It will be hosted during December 21st - 24th.
A train ride that recreates the iconic film.

Here are the teaser images.

And some videos showcasing the “Cutscene” effects I plan to use.

Don’t mind the bad audio, it’s the screen recorder not the game itself.

Looking good! I always really liked this movie, especially that intro scene when he’s in the room. I like how well you encapsulated that moment.

This is looking too good! I bet you can make too much money from it, keep it early access so that players are more excited for it.

It’s a good idea, you sure it won’t get copyrighted?

Wow, that looks good and the cutscenes work well with its surroundings. Looking at the beginning, maybe move the door further into the wall. Other than that, WOW.

The toy store in the film was known as “HerpolSheimers”, it’s a real place too.

Other big games like Jailbreak use automobile manufacturers names, i’m only using the name aswell.
Plus I don’t plan on making any money off of it

Ok. Is it going to be like the book, or you doing a different thing?

It’s like a scheduled train ride thing where you get to experience stuff like in the movie with the cracking ice and the rollercoaster scene. At the end of the line is the North Pole where Santa will give the first gift of Christmas to a randomly chosen player

Ooh maybe make a special gamemode where you can decide where to go and there’s different stories!

Sounds fun but it’s just a trip to the North Pole, the game is made for only one route

Looks great! I’d definitely like to experience this.

I love this game idea. The cutscenes gives me flashbacks to the movie. But I do believe the first scene with you in the bedroom I believe needs some more work done. Maybe add some more lighting effects such as making the room very dark and try some Dynamic lighting. Overall I love the way the game looks and I would look forward to playing it when it releases.

Alright, since it’s technically day-time in the game just with night lighting effects, how would I get the room to be darker? Turning down brightness makes the steam train pitch black and I want people to actually see the details

Dynamic lighting. You can add some “spot lights” or make some “soft lights” that blend into the darkness but doesn’t stuck out.
