Polls + questions for a hide and seek game

Hi! I am planning a hide and seek game and I want to see what the community thinks of the following things and I need some answers to certain questions.

1. I am thinking of making a votekick system for toxic players and exploiters to get kicked. Now there will be an anti-exploit but some people can learn to bypass it and the anti exploit won’t catch all of the players + toxic players. The issue is, if someone is well-hidden, and there is a reasonable amount of the round time left, the players might just votekick the person who is well-hidden. I have a few solutions, vote which one is the best:

  • The players must be a minimal level to initiate a votekick (for example level 10+. This sort of thing is how Phantom Forces does this)
  • Not many people will abuse this, no need for any specific requirements (everyone can initiate a votekick)
  • No votekick system at all

2. The rounds will be pretty long (5 to 15 minutes) because its a hide and seek game and the maps will be quite big. If a player joins, and the round has started, they need to wait ~10 minutes for the next game to start (they of course can spectate) (there won’t be a lobby, it will a UI title screen, like in Hide And Seek Extreme or BIG Paintball or Piggy). The issue is, the player will most likely not bother waiting and just straight up leave the server. How do I tackle this? (reply in the comments please)

3. How important are cosmetics (trails, effects, titles, etc) in cartoony-styled Hide And Seek game?

  • Important, people like to customize their avatar with things like this
  • Not really
  • Not important at all

4. Would special rounds make a Hide And Seek game more entertaining? (double coins, double XP, etc)

  • Yes
  • No

5. How important would power-ups (invisibility for 10 seconds, speed for 10 seconds, jump boost for 10 seconds, etc) in a Hide And Seek game be?

  • Very important, they will make the game unique
  • Not really
  • Not important at all

6. Would a system where you choose Bot or Player to be “it” (the seeker) work in such a game or do you think that it would have some issues (if so, which?)

  • It would work
  • It would have some issues
  • It defenitely wouldn’t work

Thank you for taking your time to help me answer these questions. :grinning:

I don’t think you should have a votekick system. Just have an anti-cheat or block out words. Some times people like to bully / harass with the votekick system and it’s quite annoying. I strongly disagree with games using vote-kick because it’s basically a tool used by cyberbullies / trollers / raiders.

A vote kicking system would be kind of useful for a hide and seek game, but at the same time, it can be abused to kick angry players, toxic players, or trolls to mess around with.

With your first poll about levels, that would be something useful because low-level users won’t abuse this feature at all, props for you about that.

Overall, all of those ideas are nice and I really see this game go somewhere.

Came here to add that a vote kick system is also easily exploitable to be abused to the fullest. For the sake of not wanting to deal with a potential situation like that, just rely on Roblox’s moderation system.

Thank you for the reply. But wouldn’t players with a high level abuse it less as they are likely to be engadged with the game and not some throwaway troll accounts?

Anti exploits are never perfect, and votekick is much better.
