Poor Player Retention

We are attempting to increase the player retention in our build to survive game, we’ve been adding more features, debugging left and right, finally in a minimal bug state of production, managed to hit the algorithm but players still seem to just leave, our loop is like other similar games in the genre but they can retain thousands of players while we can only retain them for a few minutes, day 1 is really good, day 7 is okay.

Essentially the issue is we’ve dropped well over 100k in sponsors to get diminishing returns, we’re looking at how we can fix this problem.

We tried to add in a feedback system in the game but players didn’t post anything useful to help guide us toward their pain points.

This is my second to last resort, the other option I was going to do was make clones of the main game, one would have no disasters just free building, the other would have basic npc disasters like the original bts games and see which one retained players better.

You can find the game here:

All feedback is welcome and appreciated, thank you for reading.

The game does have a really good concept. But I have seen this scheme all over roblox.

The innovation is the biggest problem in most roblox games.

Now days every game in roblox does have a same scheme. Over saturated graphics, simple models, repetetive gameplay, microtransactions and brain rot.

In past roblox games tried to innovate. Like making a new graphics, gameplay, mechanics. But now it is always the same thing.

The only thing that you need is to innovate.

For example: Fish did a really good job at using different graphics style. The good old non saturated graphic field.

You can try innovate by introducing something new. Like to add a more open world. Building in designated space is boring. It would be cool to see something open world ish where you need to build shelter to survive different dissasters.

i dont think they really care, they just want a quick buck

We do care, that is why we’re consulting for feedback, money isn’t a main priority currently, it’s that we want to make a game player enjoy playing and one that we enjoy playing because who wants to play a game they made if it’s not fun?

We were dabbling with the idea of destructive base parts, different materials would have more durability / health against disasters / mobs. Also was thinking about a PVP aspect as well, though we’re looking at what others feel about the game before continuing to determine if we keep developing or just scrap it.

how I said implement something now. (And don’t use the plastic oversaturated graphics its just awfull)

There is a psychology reason about why the child games or child serials like cocomelon does use the oversaturated plastic graphics.

The studies found out that it is addicting like some illegal substances. And I found this unethical.

Hmm, so change the aesthetic of the map essentially? such as more textures, less plastic, more materials?

Yep deffinitly. You can try go for something new. Like fish did. They used the roblox old asthetic.

Avoid using custom materials because they are consuming lots of ram.

Think you could join my community server? I would like to send you some map screenshots and ask how I could go about improving them, I am colorblind and it makes it hard to determine what is a good or a bad color scheme to use.

oh okay sure. That sounds cool.

It’s in the social links on the community.

can you verify me manually? For some reason I cannot verify with the RoVer.
