so im in the process of creating a really ambitious miniature city project, and its taken quite a while. i was thinking of possibly making this into a community project. here is how it (probably) work:
contributors will not be paid, but there is no minimum, neither a maximum, so builders can build 1 block or create dozens. there will probably be a contributor leaderboard displaying the amount of city blocks one has built. (they will also be credited with either their name displayed or possibly a custom building/object)
a builder can ask to build a certain amount of city blocks, and i will send them the dimensions and some criteria (size of buildings, colours, etc.). they will turn them into unions or meshes and send them to me, and i will add it to the designated area.
this is awesome! you should really do this!
this is intersting
meh…
i dunno man this seems questionable
this is a waste of time please dont

reply with any other opinions i have really no clue how this could turn out
i only have them as unions (maybe meshes) because the amount of parts is already tanking and using just parts will cause some pretty bad lag since the build is currently 130k parts and about 5% done so far
apologies for not specifying but this is to deal with lag in studio, not in game. im trying to reduce the amount of individual objects loading in at the same time
currently unions are just a temporary solution, and i am planning to convert more objects down the road when necessary. also, this game will be playable, and i have tested multiple devices at different power thresholds and have had no problems running them whatsoever.
i mean this to be a community project, and yes, they will not be paid (because im broke), but this is not a contract, this is not an obligation. this is a sort of “if you feel like it, go for it and do as much or as little as you want” thing. as i said before, it will only be username credit and maybe some easter eggs or objects after whoever.
this is inspired by multiple cities across the world (NYC, Tokyo, etc.) as well as fictional cities (Akira, Bladerunner, Ghost in the Shell, etc.), so im not using that plugin. i have the entire area planned out already.
before i add whatever they have made i will review it manually, making sure it is appropriate. i can also (hopefully not) make minor changes to creations.
