Possible to change Xbox/PlayStation frame rate and resolution?

I am trying to figure out what Console performance to target towards and want Xbox users to have the best performance to quality possible. However, I have no idea if consoles support different frame rates or resolutions on Roblox.

I’ve tried searching, but it has given me conflicting results, I couldn’t find any devforum posts about this, and I don’t have a console to test it on.

So, does anyone here know if you can change the frame rate or resolution on console? And what’s the minimum/maximum of each?

Edit: also does anyone know if you can change the graphics quality, or is it locked on different consoles? I got conflicting answers for that too.

Nope.
Framerate, as per usual with consoles, is locked to 60, but as of like 2020 on my Xbox One S, it barely hit 30

As for resolution, do you expect consoles to have actual graphics settings?? Of course its locked to 1920x1080.

From memory, yes?

Thanks

I thought the consoles would have Roblox match the resolution of the monitor. It doesn’t so that either? So it runs at 1080p even on a 4k tv on the Xbox series x?

Also kinda sad it’s not able to use the 120 fps that some consoles can do (at least that’s what I read online)

To be fair, I wouldn’t know this one, but I doubt it’d run at 4K since consoles aren’t exactly too strong, but then again I also only have an Xbox One S and quit using consoles the second I got a laptop.

But, I’d say its safe to assume consoles are running at 1080p

Did you have a 4k or 1440 monitor/tv hooked up to your xbox one S? And even with that, it set the game resolution to 1080p?

Generally, Roblox is not considered (and not tagged with) a PS5 or Xbox Series optimized game, and are made for the older generation (PS4 + Xbox One Family), which still can take use of next-gen hardware capabilities…to an extent. This is why Roblox can currently only run at a max of 1080p@60fps (with upscaling in mind.)

Edit: made a little clearer.

I am pretty sure the Xbone/PS4 both run at 1080p but I am also pretty sure both consoles also support 720p as the systems themselves have the option to change resolution (just like the previous gen)

okay what I’m understanding is that Roblox was made for the ps4/Xbox one, and the ps5/Xbox series has the same settings as the previous gen.

Does that mean that the ps5/Xbox series or ps4 pro/Xbox one x can only run 1080p maximum native resolution ?

Yes, this is currently true, and I am not aware of any sort of work being done on Roblox’s end to change that.

Alr Ty! And the fps is locked to 60 right? There’s no 30 fps or 120 fps mode?

Correct. I know PS4 can’t really support the newer-gen graphics, so it may naturally lock to 30fps if temperature gets too high.

I’m glad I could help! Please mark my response as solved if you feel it was the best possible answer!

Ok. Thanks! Our team has updated the graphics target for our game with this information in mind!
