Posts shouldn't be able to be deleted before 5 minutes have passed when the post was made

The title is a bit too long but I saw some people instantly deleting posts after it was made, expecting nobody to see them. I do not want this abuse to happen. I understand that if someone accidently made a post, then they could edit it. This feature could be helpful to prevent hiding abuse

Well sometimes, you change your mind too early and dont want other people to see, what you have done.

Also moderators can delete your post under 5 minutes.

You might change your mind right after you make a post. Then you might wanna delete it.

I understand about moderation, but you need to flag your own topic to get it deleted

If you changed your mind. then edit it to something else

Post can be this.

Takes longer time than just (post deleted by author)

what about being discriminatory?

then you should flag the discriminatory post

it takes longer to delete it, plus, you are getting banned.

maybe you should be able to delete it yourself anytime but like in general you gotta wait 5 minutes. good idea @VSCPlays

Lets imagine this scenario:

You made a post, but after 3 minutes of reading the post in your memory, you start to get sceptic on what the people will think about your post, so you are going to delete it but whoops:

Another example: I posted a reply to someone containing information, but as soon as I posted it, the person in question edited their original reply noting that they’d just saw/seen the info I was going to post.

This made my reply redundant, thus I deleted it after around 8 seconds

I’m not sure I follow. What part of “hiding posts” shortly after posting it is abuse?

The real problem is the fact that people get their own posts deleted with dozens of replies just because they are mildly inconvenienced by it. Deleting a topic you changed your mind on before anyone has had the time to see it or comment on it isn’t as bad because it’s generally not destroying information that could be useful to others, rather some question they figured out/changed their mind on asking.

I dont agree with this, its way too easy to press submit when you didn’t mean to on mobile, if anything, I’d prefer it if a post would instantly delete within a minute of being posted

The moderators can see deleted posts AFAIK, so if you delete it and there was inappropiate content in it you can flag the (topic deleted by author) post or topic.

Disagree, posts should be able to deleted whenever you want.

You also use “abuse” as justification multiple times which is likely not the case, I’ve never seen the delete button be “abused”.

If anything, the delete button prevents the abuse from spreading further.
