I know this isn’t the most ideal place to post this but it many users on X are screaming about being falsely banned by AI for “Chargeback” and claim they have never charged back and are wondering why their accounts are being banned for up to a year or terminated. It seems to be a moderation ban wave from AI but I can’t verify this is 100% false but it should be looked into by the Roblox team.
I don’t know what happened but this seems to be a big issue happening. I personally wasn’t affected by this. The reason i didn’t make a bug report myself was because i didn’t get affected by this and i didn’t 100% know about the situation at the time
Not sure much can be done here if you don’t have affected usernames (as you’re not experiencing the issue yourself). Technically, you’re not supposed to be filing reports on behalf of others
Usernames are privated, only Roblox staff can read them. Also i’m sure they can have their team look into their AI ban waves as these are put in motion. Me providing a few usernames wouldn’t make a difference when they have potentially banned thousands of innocent people.
I think I may know the case, maybe someone who had uploaded any type of clothing tried to raise the price way up and then refund or delete it off the app, making everyone who bought it to be punished because the ai thinks they are trying to commit fraud and get paid however many robux it was set to before it got deleted (which is a very bad move). Hopefully that gets fixed soon as it has been more than 24 hours that my main has been banned and tbh it’s really annoying as they even denied my appeal with proof that it wasn’t me
(which idk if the forum registers me as toast (my main), but I’m using my alt right now)
Victim here. Most of us folks (myself not yet, but potentially) got our appeals denied.
Like what macro91107r5 said, there might be a very critical issue with the AI moderation reports that triggers when victims buy an accessory or clothing that got its price quickly increased and deleted shortly after (may later get mass reported if recently bought many accessories/clothings that later deleted), which the AI assume that the victims are trying to fraud their robux.
In my prespective: this may be a prepared attack by a (or multiple) group(s) or a problem with Roblox’s banking system/AI moderation. I’m unsure, but considerable.
I think kreekcraft”s been talking about that too he just posted a video talking about this new issue he said that Roblox has not responded to this yet so hopefully Roblox responds soon
Turns out what I thought was completely wrong, heh.
Anyways. L3Norm, an admin has reached out with the current issue! The moderation team is currently working out with the issue and should be resolved soon.
I forwarded it to people in the program I am in but no one has really responded, one staff said for the users to make CS reports, not much of a response on this one so I am assuming this could be bans that are legitimate, usually they work faster if things are actually a mistake. Like a few months back when the AI was banning UGC people for things that didn’t break the rules, they acknowledged it quickly especially on dev forum, this issue not sure about.
I took some time looking at people’s ban timestamp,. most of them are at around 1:54 ~ 1:57 EDT or 12:42 PM EDT. So I don’t think they’re all legitimate.
Roblox is also involved in lawsuits right now, probably is another reason why they’re so slow with this ban wave.
As I suspected due to the lack of reply from Roblox on dev forum and when I contacted Roblox staff, this was likely legitimate and users who were banned all seemed to use stolen credit card information as a result of an investigation from Roblox’s fraud team.
I have no idea why everyone’s randomly believing sloptuber who’s shown zero proof of any official statement past reading words on a screen that we can’t see and saying “just trust me bro”
In literally every other situation Roblox refuses to provide statements about anything unless it’s completely public through official sources (for something like this, it’d likely be a staff member/representative speaking on Roblox’s behalf on the devforum)
As far as I can remember there has never been a single instance of having a star creator officially speak on the companies behalf.
Chargebacks are INSTANT bans (note: instant the moment the bank takes money back from Roblox) so having multitudes of people getting chargeback bans all within the same 3-4 minutes shows that there’s very obviously something wrong here.
It’s not like they’re lacking the functionality for a more accurate ban reason either, as there are documented (note: on a random wikia, take with grain of salt) instances of fraud/unauthorised payment related messages on bans (see: 219 and 264 on above link)
Assuming the claims of everyone using a single stolen credit card was right (possible, but the numbers of people using it seems way too high) and that the chargeback message was a bug/human error, why ban for 1 year and not permanently?
Chargebacks, under normal conditions, are supposed to be an instant termination. (and, to my knowledge + quick googling, don’t provide any sort of “offensive item” like in this situation)
Fraud and IRL money related issues are supposed to be an instant termination.
1 year bans haven’t been openly seen in forever, they’re almost never used. (documented as existing, but they serve such little purpose)
Roblox wouldn’t hand out a non-termination for a chargeback unless there was a genuine bug/mistake in the system.
Nothing about this makes any sense, and people assuming some random youtuber speaking unofficially past “just trust me bro” is the best source of information on this matter is horrifying.
It’s good to be skeptical. Let me address that concern for you: can confirm KreekCraft did get reached out to by our teams and what he said in the video is accurate.
Just because the actions happened in a short time frame does not mean that we didn’t have humans reviewing all the actions before running them through the system.
