Prefab Placer Plugin

About

prefabPlacer
The Prefab Placer plugin allows you to click anywhere in your game to quickly place models and parts with a variety of settings. Selecting multiple prefabs will allow you to place a random one with each click.

Note: The plugin is currently in an early version and some features are still being developed. Feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Usage

Step 1: Select some prefabs! These can be, parts, models, unions, or mesh parts. You can select as many as you want.

Step 2: Toggle your prefabs! By default, all of them will be enabled. This means that when you place a prefab, it will select a random one from the enabled prefabs. To disable one, simply click on its icon. If you see a blue border, the prefab is enabled.

Step 3: Place some prefabs! Click somewhere in your game to place a prefab. By default, prefabs will point outwards from the surface you clicked on and randomly rotate on the y-axis. Settings for this will come in a future release.

Step 4: Rinse and repeat! When you’re done, you can either click the “Back” button to select different prefabs, or just close the plugin widget. No extra steps, and no residue in the workspace. Don’t like a change you made? Undo it! Undo and redo are supported by this plugin.

Keep in mind that this is an early release, and there are more features planned. I would love to hear what you have to say, whether it’s positive or negative feedback. Thanks for reading!

Update: Added a setting to control what face of the prefab is used when placing. The selected face will be the bottom face and will point toward the surface you click on.
