Preventing Account Farming and Exploits

I like that more working is being put into this, but the AI which I assume is at least related to the moderation one is just awful. It deletes catalog assets randomly, it randomly bans people, it bans random things but spares other things.

Am I the only person that sees an issue with this?

Will this include targeting automated accounts that gobble up every available free Limited UGC items within seconds of publishing? I’ve had to start locking the purchase prompt behind an :IsInGroup() check for my experiences to ensure it’s a real player from my community.

You’re not the only one

They will leave it purposefully vague so they can enforce it when they want, and ignore it when they want.

When are you finally going to do away with the 1-3-7-deletion policy for cheaters and jump to immediate termination? Everyone on the security team wants this, every player wants this. Why are we still stuck playing with cheaters your teams admit that they’re detecting but aren’t allowed to ban?

Overall since autoclickers and macro work on client side (player machine) there is not a munch of things that roblox can do.

I’d assume they don’t want the cheaters to know what got them detected so it takes them longer to bypass, but it’s at the expense of the developers.

Either way, the outcome is the same.

not trusted in having aliasing toggle and emission maps though :pensive:

overall yeah this is good only for frontpage devs with trading system

LOL YEAH I DIDN’T EVEN SEE THIS

perhaps they can become trusted within the community if they stopped ignoring the community in the first place

i think the team listen more carefully to the community than at a time, for now on one of the biggest issue of the platform is a certain player base including exploiters and some term of rules bypassers and moderation bypasser.

For exemple:
Roblox released a new way to ban peoples out of games
Roblox listened for the crosswood incident.

I’m glad there’s acknowledgment, but this is an endless battle that isn’t really won. With that, I want to note some things:

  • There’s a balance between security and impacting the average user experience. Maybe these new efforts are too grand too fast and they hurt more than help.
  • Adding to the last point, Roblox has the core value of “taking the long view”. That means getting something done correctly, which can mean things take longer. Or, they should. The people working against the “good” efforts here don’t have that core value though. So I assume the “bad” efforts here will usually beat the “good” ones.

We are in for a battle against AI models, and the intentions behind them. Interesting is the light way to put it.

“ Roblox listened for the crosswood incident.” - I will admit they have been pretty good on that but they still exist and are weaponized against players.

Atleast they tryed to do something about the incident so its not the company to blame at the first place

Pretty sure you’re confusing “Ai” with something like an llm, which is a subset of the blanket term.

throw back to this radical moderation system

I don’t understand this, sorry. Can you rephrase it?

If you’re talking about bots and exploiters, I don’t think this is the BIGGEST issue on the platform.

THANK YOU. Said it better than I could.

for the first one i would say roblox listenned more carefully to the community than the last 2 years bringing back event ‘even if not perfect its atleast a try’ and giving some cool feature players long time requesteds

You might be confused, I am not talking about immediate termination upon injection but rather doing away with the multiple-chances policy. Right now how it works is there is an anti-exploit ban wave every 3 months (cheaters are ONLY banned during ban waves), and the punishments start at 1-day for the first ban wave, 3 day for the second, etc. This means that in order for an exploiter to get account deleted, they would have to cheat for a whole year straight. Here are the current rules for exploit bans:

  • The bans are escalating, from 1 day - 3 day - 7 day - termination. You must be banned 4 times to get your account deleted
  • Punishment tracking resets every year.
  • You must be manually reported by another player to be banned for exploiting
  • Exploit bans are done in waves roughly every 3 months.
  • Exploit bans to not extend to alt accounts

It is clear these policies are only designed to keep the CCU metrics stable all while throwing our games to the wolves as we’re forced to deal with cheaters who know how to game the system. They are given way too many chances and with no reasonable excuse.

Hopefully. I’m tired of seeing and talking about bots for a while.
