Hello, I am a new UI Designer, but I have not made an actual UI yet due to some misunderstandings. I have read multiple tutorials and guides here on the forum, but none of them clearly states if I should create a design outside of Roblox Studio then import it or make it directly in Studio. If I were to create a design outside of Studio, which software would be best for exporting? Also, if I get a commission would I have to learn to code the UI’s myself? Another thing I haven’t seen any tutorial mention is pricing. I’ve looked at other UI Designer portfolios along with recruitment posts, but I want to know if there’s a specific price range when it comes to UI. Thank you for taking out time to read my lengthy post.
Sorry for the cringe username I plan on changing it soon.
I am not a UI designer myself, but I would recommend doing whatever suits you. If you’re good at UI designs in studio, then go for it. If you’re good at doing UI design outside of studio, go for it. If you do it outside, you would want to use programs like Photoshop I believe. You wouldn’t need to code the GUI unless you are commissioned to do so. If you just tell the one who will be hiring you that you only create the GUI, you wouldn’t need to code it. Else you say you can, then you would have to. When it come’s to pricing, it’s all up to you. Create a price that you think is reasonable for your time and effort, but not too high as if it’s too high people may not hire you. Also your username isn’t cringe lmao.
So, you can export UIs from any software. And if you had a commission you don’t have to code unless you want some extra money or want to code or something. I use a free photoshop, and still export it into studio. To do this, just get an image label, and make a decal of your UI in roblox. Get the decal link, and replace it in the properties for the image.
As a programmer and UI Designer, Some software you could use are:
Free softwares
Gravit Designer
Photopea - Basically demo version of Photoshop (Very similar and useful)
Gimp
MediBangPaintPro
InkScape
Paid Softwares - Mainly professional programs you could use.
Affinity Designer
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
You are able to use any software you wish to do UI’s, Just do whatever suits you and what you are comfortable with. Another thing you can do is just make UI’s just from Studio, You are still bound to make some pretty awesome UI’s via studio. Although it is limited.
On pricing, it really depends on you. For me, I say more complex and higher detailed UI’s cost more. The more complex and detailed, the more higher the price goes. But it is really up to you how you wan’t to price your things.
Anyway TL;DR, Just be you. Use any software which suits you. Price it like you want to.
