At first glance, this may not seem as anything is wrong, but if you look at the top, you will notice some weird blending on the lights. As far as I know, they should be smooth, but here, they look like squares.
I thought this could be a bug of the engine, or me doing something wrong. I even went as far as thinking about maybe using a different colour profile, with a higher colour gamut could fix the issue(HAHA, Roblox doesn’t have that feature, so, if this was the way to fix, It is unfixable)
Do you guys have any idea of how I can fix this? (Also, if you look closely, what is up with that last wall. The Sun light is shining through it .-.)
There isn’t enough information here to really understand what your situation is. Are you raycasting using scripts to somehow create a picture? Are you just using the normal roblox lighting engine? What lighting type are you using if so? How are you doing “ray tracing manually”
Have you simulated the same environment using real ray tracing, say rendering a scene in blender with the same exact setup and seeing if those patterns remain?
No, I’m not using scripts. I did that using invisible panels, which I called LP(Light Panels). I didn’t recreate the same thing in Blender, but I had my room in real life which I “Studied” to see how the lightning interacted with everything. I’m currently using ShadowMap and all the LPs are surface lights.
The main reason why I made this post was because of those blocky artefacts you see on the top of the build.
Then it’s not ray tracing, it’s just regular lighting. Not using actual ray tracing, it would follow that it won’t be accurate to real lighting as it’s really just a simplification. Future lighting doesn’t use ray tracing either, but maybe it will give better results, so I’d suggest you try it.
I tried using Future, but I quickly realised I couldn’t use it, simply because future does not offer “Smooth Blending”. By this I mean, If I have 1 LP, instead of creating a smooth fading of the light it just ends. No really, that is literally what happens. It just, stops
