Procedural Planet Generator

What this does is well…generate a low-poly planet. It’s a pretty simple concept, but it was pretty hard to make. With the script, you can change the resolution of the terrain, how many triangles are generated per second, the offset x, y, and z of the noise, and finally the frequency and lacunarity. I’m not going to release the script though, because it’s too messy to understand lol. It’s also insanely glitchy, and really does push Roblox to its limits.

What I’ll also try to do in the future is make a planetary gravity system so you can explore the whole planet. Anyways, thanks for checking out this post.

This is something that I usually see that couldn’t be accomplished on Roblox.

And the fact that the script allows you to choose how many triangles are generated, and change the resolution of the Low Poly terrain, is very advanced.

This concept actually reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy, with the planets.

I remember playing around with a planet generator that produced land masses and terrain by essentially building the planet in thin slices around the axis of the planet. It was used for a space fairing game in the late 90s. Can’t remember the name of the game though.
