Project: Underground - What do you think?

NOTE: THE GAME HASN’T RELEASED YET. IT WILL START DEVELOPMENT SOON.

Hi all,

I’m making a game called “Project: Underground”. It is an upcoming racing game inspired by the popular video game series “Need For Speed”, more specifically the Underground games, Most Wanted and Carbon.

Setting
The game is not set in the modern day. You are an aspiring street racer who wants to become the best in the city, using one of the many starter cars, you race to earn XP and Laps to level up your Driver Rank. Your Driver Rank is your key progression stat in the game, it unlocks faster, better and more expensive cars.

Our Views and Goals
With Project: Underground, we believe that your ride should stand out from the rest. Each car should resemble / match their driver. To make this possible, you are given a wide range of customisation options across all 75+ vehicles. These customisation options range from bumpers, side skirts, spoilers, bonnets, widebody kits, rims, paints, custom decals, plates, liveries, interior decals and seats, steering wheels and so much more. You will be able to create custom liveries and upload them to Roblox for use on your car.

You are able to tune your car’s performance to your liking with many performance upgrades like tire compounds, engine upgrades, turbos, superchargers, nitrous, engine swaps and much more. You are given the choice of upgrading your current car, or buying a new one. If you wanted to, you could complete the game with your starter car with some performance upgrades!

Cars
Cars are placed in 4 tiers, ranging from Tier 1 up to Tier 4, with Tier 1 cars being the slowest, and Tier 4 cars being the fastest. Upgrade your car with performance upgrades to “Tier up” your car. For example, if your car is in Tier 3, making it powerful enough will upgrade it to Tier 4. This ensures that any car can compete in any race for fair play, and so you don’t have to main supercars towards the end of the game.

The cars in the game will be from 2010 and older. We won’t be adding much supercars (with the exception of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s supercars), since a lot of car games on Roblox already have these. We will mainly be focusing on the tuner scene, which features tuner cars and muscle cars. As stated before, some supercars will be present, but not much newer than 2003. We plan on adding 75+ cars.

Cars can be purchased from one of the many Dealers around the map. Each one sells different inventory, though you can warp to a specific Dealer if you wish to save having to go on a easter egg hunt with Dealers. Cars will be locked behind Driver Ranks, with the Driver Ranks ranging from D, C, B, A, S and S+. The higher your Driver Rank is, the more cars you will get access to.

Some cars will be available in the Dealer for a limited time for certain holidays like Christmas, Halloween, etc. These cars are rarer than other cars in the game and are good to keep. After the cars go offsale, you keep them if you bought it.

Some cars can be unlocked through Badges. These Badges range from finding Barn Finds, meeting the Owner and 100% game completion.

Progression
To progress through the game, you must upgrade your cars to be faster and winning races to level up your Driver Rank. You start off in Driver Rank D which only allows access to the bottom tier starter cars. Use one of the starter cars to race and level up. The more you level up your Driver Rank, the more cars you’ll have access to. The Driver Rank also unlocks other features too!

Laps are your secondary progression stat. These can be earned by racing on one of the many tracks in the game, ranging from dragstrips, to drift and race tracks to a Nascar oval. These tracks also provide XP towards your Driver Rank as stated before.

To beat the game, you must:

  • Level up to Driver Rank S+
  • Have at least 200 Laps

To 100% complete the game, you must:

  • Fulfil all requirements to beat the game
  • Acquire at least 15 cars
  • Have at least 500 Laps
  • Unlock all cars
  • Have at least one Tier 4 car
  • Earn every Badge

Upon fulfilling this criteria, you will be awarded with a few special cars which range from unique cars to special editions of already existing cars.

Map
We want to create a diverse map. To ensure this, we are adding multiple locations to the map. These include:

  • 3 to 4 Cities
  • 3 Touges
  • A long highway
  • Some canyons
  • Multiple Dealers, Garages and Shops
  • Multiple tracks
  • Much more!

Conclusion
We think that by combining all of this together, we can create a truly unique game. We hope you enjoy the game when it releases as we are putting a lot of effort into it to ensure it is made at the best quality possible. Share your thoughts in the replies!

THIS POST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE LATER.

You’ll need to be actually super good. For example map like Downtown by Art.B or cars like in Car Crusher 2.

These look like Roblox studio screenshots

They probably are, the resolution is really low.

I dont see much of game design here yet,

having players start out with slow and end with fast cars, so this must be a singleplayer game right? and what would differentiate it from other racing games? and the maps, are they just going to let the faster cars have full advantage? how will they make use of the environment?
