Project64 Level Design

I started on this project a little while back and I’ve decided to go through with it’s development cycle recently, I just need some feedback on what I should do between open world or linear level design.

Concept of the game’s artstyle:



Gameplay and mechanics in Project64 will be and is inspired by SM64

I think it would be nice if it were an open-world RPG, as that theme seems to fit your build style.

This looks like it could fit for an adventure or RPG game. I suggest you make the grass and leaves not so bright green because it just burns eyes.

Like others are saying, and RPG would work. But I do think you could definitely make a platformer like SM64. If you went down that route, I’d recommend creating a unique story to tell along with the game (e.g. the world is being taken over, and you need to free cities and along the way you meet lots of interesting characters, some of which could even stay with you for the journey), or something else to make it stand out.
