Provincial Strat Game

Ok so this is a rewrite because as of November 2025, I have got back interest into this project.

The previous premise was just for a trading strategy game based in the ballpark between 1400-1600AD, though I’ve decided that the scope of the game would be more broad including features one might see in some of Paradox’s strat games (the good ones that is…).

I’ll try cook up something good and hopefully a lot more detailed than those generic map-strategy games that are just units and oversized provinces.

It’ll be peak, trust the proccess…

Starting to make a map, basing it of HOI4 map for a refferance.

Each major/regional city gets its own province, so some provinces may be small while others very big.

Very interesting idea! So is it more a resource management game or a game where you divide a workforce to different jobs (worker management)?

Basically companies can buy/sell resources, and each port can provide different resources for different prices, and ships used by the company would have a capacity to store resources.

So yeah, it’s kind of a resource management game

Added some city names, if I mispelt or misplaced these cities, please correct me!

Also for anyone who definetely knows which cities are meant to go in which empty province, please tell me aswell, I know a few more than what I placed but either didn’t have space or time.

As an update, I have dropped this project a while back, though I am looking back onto restarting it from the ground up. Though I’ll decide a new name as the current is generic and uninspired, and the scope of the game will be increased too from just a trade-management to an overall strat game like EU4 (though of-course with a lesser scope).

About the provinces, they will be smaller than the ones provided in the screenshot, though not too small where the amount of meshes has a significant impact on performance and memory. I also plan (and have partially created) a provincial editor using EditableMesh, which currently supports only convex provinces triangulated with ear clipping.
I do not know if EditableMeshes are viable yet and if they would be released in anytime soon or if like any good Engine feature, it’d get dragged for years, but it for sure is atleast easier than creating the provinces in Blender like what I have done for the screenshots.

If anyone is interested in this project, I will keep updates in this thread. I will be checking replies frequently so if you got questions or ideas please send them below!!
