While most of this information is accurate and true, PSGA staff now abides by a new handbook and this information is deprecated.
PSGA Rules for Staff
Section 1 - Rules
Staff members at PSGA are supposed to set a good example to the coaches, as well as the other coaches. This means that staff is expected to:
-
Be positive role models to those around you:
- Your behavior will reflect on our group and what we stand for. So we ask that you refrain from speaking on adult topics, using bad language, discrimination others, discussing political or world topics, etc.
-
Stay active:
- Staff members, especially coaches, should be active at least weekly. This is to ensure that the group doesn’t become inactive. If you are inactive for more than 2 months then you will be temporarily demoted to the Inactive/Suspended rank to avoid confusion. We ask that if you know you’ll be inactive for a while, you let a higher staff member know as well.
-
Do not AA:
- This means do not abuse admin commands. Do not overuse commands or spam in the chat with them. Only use the commands that have been accepted for you to use, those will be listed below.
-
Do not rank gymnasts that haven’t passed a tryout:
- If a gymnast asks, “Can you put me on level _?” You are not to do so unless they have passed their levels tryout. Politely tell them that they must first pass their tryout.
-
Do not skip levels for gymnasts:
- All gymnasts have to go through each level of gymnastics. For example, they cannot go from level 4 to level 6, even if they tried out with the level 6 routines at their level 4 tryout.
-
Be on time for events:
- If you hosted a tryout/practice/training, make sure that you scheduled a time that you will be able to make! Gymnasts don’t like waiting around for a coach who isn’t going to show. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your class begins. If no one shows on time, wait around for 10 minutes, and if still, no one shows you may leave.
-
Always use polite language with the gymnasts:
-
This means do not use profane language around or when speaking to gymnasts. Absolutely do not use caps (shout) when speaking to gymnasts. Never call them out of their name. And always respond in a clear, concise, and professional manner to whatever has been spoken to you.
- Incorrect: Gymnast: “Do you know when the next class will be?” Coach: “No, stop asking.”
- Correct: Gymnast: “When will the next classes be?” Coach: “I’m unsure at the moment, but make sure to check the group shout for times!”
-
Section 2 - Admin Commands
Staff needs admin commands to direct the gymnasts, send out warnings, and other important things. There are admin commands for all sorts of things, but the ones you’ll need to use for normal classes and events consist of commands that allow you to:
-
Send server/global messages
-
Send alerts or warnings to a specific player
-
Send announcments
-
Respawn/Reset a player
-
Freeze a player in place
-
Kick, ban, or temporarily ban a player
-
Fly or speed yourself
-
Teleport or bring yourself or another player
-
Server lock (slock)
The ones you normally want to avoid are called “Fun Commands”, there are many to name so just remember that the ones above are the ones you will be using most.
Section 3 - Moderation
Sometimes gymnasts get out of hand, and even if your job is not a moderator, you are a staff member and therefore have the responsibility to keep our servers safe and clean. Make sure to log each moderation act in the #game_moderation channel.
If a player is breaking rules, you give them a warning. If they continue breaking rules after being warned, kick them. (This applies to the Game and Discord Server) Here are some reasons you may need to warn, kick, ban, or suspend a player.
Reasons for Warnings
- Being disruptive
- Glitching
- Bullying
- Spamming
- Caps lock abuse
- Goofing off in classes or at events
- Trolling
- Not sharing equipment
- Name Calling
- Being disrespectful
- Interrupting ongoing classes/events.
- Advertising
- Inappropriate Language
- Online dating
- Acting as an official staff member
(This list will be updated further)
Reasons for Immediate Kick
- Discriminating against others for their gender, race, sexuality, religion, etc.
- Being inappropriate or sexual towards other players.
- Threats towards other players
(This list will be updated further)
If a user is being extremely disrespectful, rude, trolling, bullying, etc. in the group wall, then make sure to delete their post. If you feel some situations are more serious than a kick or ban, or someone should be exiled, please reach out to a higher staff member or Rosaliise or Kylise.
When someone breaks the rules:
Verbally warn the player and also use the command. (:warn player message)
-
Kick them if they return after being warned and are still breaking rules.
-
If they return to that same server again and are still breaking rules, give them a time ban of appropriate length. Do not exceed 3 days.
( :tban player number s/m/h/d) -
Ex. :tban RobloxGymnast 1d
Section 4 - Hosting Events
When you host any type of class/event, you are expected to notify the group members about it on the group shout as well as in the designated channels in the Group Discord.
Make sure to announce your event at least 1-2 hours before time, any earlier is fine too. Since we do not have a set schedule for hosting classes just yet, make sure to check with other staff members before setting dates and times for classes.
General Rules For Hosting Classes:
-
At the beginning of class, make sure to introduce yourself to your gymnasts. You want to appear friendly to them and not just a bot who’s instructing them! Ex. "Hi I’m Coach Anna and I’ll be instructing you today!
-
Don’t slock the server until 5 minutes after class has begun. (Excepting times where the class is extremely full.)
-
Explain some rules and guidelines at the beginning of each class.
-
Thoroughly explain what you are teaching the gymnasts.
-
If a gymnast is being extremely disruptive or disrespectful, make sure to kick them from the server.
-
Don’t be boring! Make sure to sound friendly and approachable. Use polite language and correct grammar. It makes you appear professional. You do not have to act outside of your comfort zone though.
